If you're looking for a way to improve your health and wellbeing, there's no need to look any further than your own backyard – or even your own home! With a little creativity and some basic materials, you can create your own health care worker right in your own home.
You don't need to be a medical professional to take care of your own health. With a little knowledge and some simple diy skills, you can create your own health care worker to help you stay healthy and happy. Here's how:
1. Choose the right materials. When it comes to creating your own health care worker, the sky is the limit – but you'll need to choose materials that are safe and easy to work with. Some good options include felt, cotton, and even recycled materials like old t-shirts or sheets.
2. Create a pattern. Once you've gathered your materials, it's time to get creative and make a pattern for your health care worker. You can find a variety of gnome patterns online, or you can design your own. If you're not sure where to start, try looking for a basic gnome pattern and then adding your own personal touches.
3. Cut out your fabric. Once you have your pattern, it's time to cut out your fabric. Be sure to use sharp scissors and cut along the lines of your pattern. If you're using recycled materials, be extra careful not to cut yourself on any sharp edges.
4. Sew it up. Now it's time to put your health care worker together! Start by sewing the two sides of your fabric together, then stuff your health care worker with stuffing or batting. Once your health care worker is stuffed, sew the remaining opening shut.
5. Add the finishing touches. Now that your health care worker is complete, it's time to add the finishing touches. You can embroider a face onto your health care worker, or add other embellishments like buttons or yarn. Be creative and have fun!
After you've created your health care worker, be sure to take good care of it. Regularly dust and vacuum your health care worker to keep it clean, and store it in a safe place when you're not using it. With a little bit of love and care, your health care worker will be by your side for years to come!

all right for this gnome you're going to
need a pattern it's in the description
below you can download it there's gonna
be five pages of pattern pieces
it's not a complicated pattern it's just
got a lot of pieces to it
you're gonna need some non-woven fabric
for the shoes and the
mask you need some knit fabric for his
arms some fabric for his scrub
some fabric for his hat you're going to
need a mask
you need some pipe cleaner some bias
tape some duct tape
some beads for his hands some corks
some ribbon for his hat some sticks for
his legs a nose you're gonna need two
little shoes
for some shoes you're gonna need some um
weighted beads a pool noodle
some string a um styrofoam ball
some faux fur for his beard you're gonna
need some electrical tape
some foil another little piece of cork
um some earbuds and a
piece of wire all right let's get
started
first thing all right we're gonna go
ahead and build our shoe coverings we're
going to take
a six inch circle and it's in the
pattern we're going to go ahead and cut
out two of those out of the non-woven
fabric
and that works the best because it
doesn't have any fraying or anything
like that
and it work and it's pretty stiff so it
works really really well
it'll cover those shoe openings really
good and then we're going to go ahead
and cut two legs
for the legs and you don't have to do
this step if you don't want to
if you want to skip this step you can
but it does help to secure the legs
to the noodle a little bit better if you
do this step
but you can use duct tape if you want to
instead and alleviate this
this step so your choice okay then we're
going to go ahead and take the shoes
and we're going to go ahead and fill
them with a weighted bead
and then we're going to tape those off
so that he has a little bit of weight on
his legs
and we're going to i'm going to cover
mine with duct tape you can use any kind
of tape you want to but i did get a duct
tape to kind of match the
fabric so if you could see it through it
you wouldn't see it
we're just going to cover the very very
bottom of that it doesn't have to be
perfect because these are not going to
show at all
and we're going to cover that up really
really well
and we're going to do that for both of
them
then we're going to take the um covering
and we're going to cover up the shoes
and we're just going to kind of tuck it
in we're just going to kind of go around
and tuck it in
we're going to put a piece of um
glue at the front tape it in and then
just start
folding that around just keep going all
the way around
starting with the front to get the front
straight and then we're just going to
fold around fold around fold around and
then we're going to tuck it in
and again we're not going to glue his
feet inside of here you can actually
use this to balance him i had to pull my
leg
up a little bit on one of them to
balance but it really helped that i did
not have these um
glued in and they'll stay because these
um
corks are going to be really really
tight on these on these shoes
just wrap it around until you get to the
end and then just um
we're going to put them aside and we're
going to go ahead and take our cork
add it to our stick you'll have to drill
a hole through your cork to get it on
there and then we're going to build our
legs
we're going to go down one side so we
have a nice trimmed out edge
and again this step really doesn't
matter if you want to skip this step
and on these corks we're going to only
put about we're going to leave out
one inch at the bottom of the cork
because you don't want to wrap the
fabric around the leg because you will
never get the fat the shoe
the leg into the shoe you'll need to
leave an inch
at the end because that's how deep these
shoes are and we're going to do that to
both sides
we're just going to trim it out and then
and then glue it on and then roll them
up
with the seam in the back
and then we're just going to put those
aside and we're going to go ahead and
build his pants you can take
the pattern and we're going to cut four
pieces
and this pattern will give it a nice um
actual pant look to it
not just cut out a square with a circle
in the middle of it
this is actually going to be a nice
fitted pair of pants for them
we're going to cut four of those and
then after we do that we're going to cut
two pockets and i know the pattern right
there shows four but two of those
pockets are going to be for the
shirt
so these two pieces are going to be for
the front of the pants
and the other two pieces that we cut are
going to be for the back of the pants
and then go ahead and cut your two
pockets
these pockets are going to be actually
on the sides of the pants
all right we're going to go ahead and
glue our pockets we're just going to
glue a quarter of an inch all the way
around
so it's trimmed off nicely once you put
it on the pants
and we're going to do that for both
sides
just about a quarter of an inch or less
just
get it folded up around there so we have
a nice seam on our pockets
all right now we're going to go ahead
and build the pants we're going to take
two sides that are already together and
we're going to glue the
front part of the pants
and then we're going to do the glue the
back part of the pants
okay let that dry really good then we're
going to open them up and we're going to
put
facing sides together
so the side that you see when you're
wearing them
that's a facing we're going to put those
two together and we're going to
um glue up the leg and the crotch area
and you want to line this up really good
make sure the crotch area is lined up
really really well before you start
gluing and then this will complete his
pants
but you do want to let this dry really
really good because we're going to turn
it right side out and you don't want to
turn it right side out until it's really
dried so it stays together
okay then we're gonna take it we're
gonna glue down both sides of the pants
you may have to do a little bit of
trimming
get his legs straight
and then go ahead and glue both sides
down
and you see i didn't get it straight i
had to pull it apart and fix it
but that's okay those things happen
and we're gonna go ahead and glue the
other side down
all right and then we're going to go
ahead and take it and hem it up
we're going to add about a quarter of an
inch hem on both sides
just turn it up a quarter of an inch and
we're going to glue it down
you want to put your hand probably
inside here just to make sure that none
of the glue
seeps through to the inside because you
don't want to glue his legs together
and just glue all the way around there
all the way around to give it a nice
finished hem when he when you actually
turn it right side out
and we're going to do the same thing for
both sides
just about a quarter of an inch hem you
could sew this pattern too just use a
quarter of an inch um
seam allowance all the way around and
it's a pretty so
friendly pattern
all right then what we're going to do is
we're going to glue the very top of it
to give it a finished out edge again
this is a step that you can skip if you
want to because this shirt will
up cover it up there are a lot of
shortcuts that you could use in this
pattern
for things that you don't see but i'm
just kind of showing you like a finished
product okay somewhere
where to lift up his shirt and see that
hey it doesn't have a nice seam so
kind of want to make it do that turn it
right side out
and we are going to put the seams
together so we can get the exact side of
the leg
so we can add our pattern i mean our
pocket and we're just going to glue
three sides on our pocket
in case you want to put something in the
and we're going to do the same thing for
both sides just kind of make sure that
they're even
just three sides on this as well if you
don't want to put anything in his
pockets you can feel
you can close them all the way up but
you might want to put something in his
all right and we're going to go ahead
and attach his legs
what we're going to do here is we're
just going to cut some snips probably
about four or five snips around the edge
and this is what's going to attach it to
the noodle
and this is what i was telling you
earlier on the step that you didn't
probably didn't want to skip
because it will attach it to the noodle
you need to put your legs inside your
pants before you put your shoes on
because those shoes will not go through
these pants
then we're just going to push those legs
right into those shoes
on both of those and again we're not
going to glue them because you can use
them for adjustment
then we need to pull his pants legs back
because we're going to attach this part
to the noodle
and you're just going to take a dowel
pin and just kind of poke two holes
evenly on both sides to stick these legs
in
and this gnome balances really really
well he's not too heavy
and pull those flaps back because those
ones are going to attach to the noodle
itself
and we're going to make sure that they
fit before we glue them
and then we're just going to put glue in
the holes
and attach those legs and again that
noodle will melt a little bit but don't
worry about that
it's not going to hurt a thing just kind
of work fast on that
all right after that dries we're going
to take those pieces of
fabric that are left and we're just
going to go and glue those down that's
what's going to secure that leg to make
sure it does not pull
off of your body
if you want to use duct tape there
instead of putting fabric
around the legs that's fine too but you
will have to
glue a little bit of the duct tape
because the duct tape does not stick
really really well to the noodle i tried
it
all right once you got that figured out
make sure it's straight go ahead and
pull his pants legs up we're going to
put a rubber band around it
evenly space the pants the gathers and
then we're going to go ahead and take a
string and wrap it around the
body to hold the pants on good
tie it pretty tight we're going to cut
that off now we're going to go ahead and
make the top
the back and the front of this pattern
are exactly the same so you can just go
ahead and cut
two of the back and then we're going to
cut the v into the front in a little bit
but that's the only difference between
the back and the front is just the v
and again you can click you can keep
from doing this step if you don't want
to either because the beard is going to
cover up the v
but i'm showing it to you anyway in case
you want to make a girl gnome
you will want to finish out that v then
we're going to take two pieces of um
fabric and we're going to cut out the
pockets for the front
you have two pockets for the front
there's two marks on there that you want
to mark
on your pattern and that's where our
glue lines are so make sure that you
mark those two
and then we'll go ahead and cut the v
out of one of those pieces
for the front
okay we're going to take some bias tape
and we're going to finish out that v
again this is good this will be if you
want to use it for a girl gnome it'll
finish it out but you don't have to do
this step if you're doing a gyno
we're going to take a v right there and
then we're going to take the other end
and square it off just take that v right
across there
and then you're going to clip the end so
it's squared off
now bias tape is a folded piece of
fabric so you want to go ahead and put
some glue inside of it
and glue it together before you put it
onto the v itself
and then just glue the other one where
it has the flat piece down there
same thing put some glue inside of it to
glue the bias tape together
and then we're going to glue it down to
the v
and we'll finish off the top of the edge
here in a little bit
all right then we're going to put the
facing sides together
and we're going to glue the top together
now where you marked your marks from the
pattern
on the top we are going to glue from
that
that notch or that line to the edge
on both sides so don't glue all the way
across because you won't get his head
inside the
inside the shirt
all right then we're going to glue down
the sides and we want to leave about a
quarter of an inch
all the way around because we're going
to put a couple of notches in there
so that when we open it up it lays flat
and we're going to do that for both
sides again go about a quarter of an
inch in
so we have a place we can snip it and
you're going to put just a couple little
snips
at the armpit area all right then we're
going to go ahead and glue our pockets
we're going to go
all the way around again just like we
did the ones for the pants
we're gonna glue about a quarter of an
inch up maybe not quite a quarter
inch maybe a little bit less it really
doesn't matter just as long as you get
it glued up so that it has a nice
finished
edge when you when you finish your
pockets
and we're going to do that for both of
them
and yes a lint brush works really really
well to have as a tool
all right then we're going to go ahead
and hem up the bottom so that when we
turn it right side out we have a nice
hemmed edge on the on the bottom of our
shirt because that part is going to show
just go all the way around about a
quarter of an inch up and just get that
all glued in
and we're just going one turn up you
could if you want to do two you can but
i'm just doing one turn up
that fabric doesn't fray so it's not
it's not going to be stringy anywhere
okay and then we're going to turn it
right side out and we're going to finish
out the front of it
and you may need to touch up where the v
is a little bit you'll see if it's a
little bit loose right there since we
did it glued it when it's on a flat
surface
and then just kind of get it flush with
the shirt
on both sides and then we're going to
finish out the edges here in a little
bit so don't worry about the edge right
now
then on his sleeves we're just going to
pull his sleeve out
about an inch and leave the rest of the
fabric inside for the hem
you just want to make sure when you pull
those sleeves out that they're equal on
both sides
just about an inch
and right there you can pull that a
little bit that kind of gives it a
little bit of um
makes it a little bit more defined on
the sides
all right now that that's straight we're
going to go ahead and um hem up the top
part
we're just going to fold that back flap
in about a quarter of an inch and glue
it down
and then we're going to turn it over and
do the same thing we're just going to
fold those two pieces of bias tape down
in the front
and clean that up and again this is you
don't have to do this step
if you don't want to because the beard
will cover it up but if you do decide to
do a girl
you'll want that stuff done
okay then we're gonna go ahead and
finish up his sleeves we're just gonna
make sure that they are perfectly
straight and flat and then we're gonna
go back in there with a hot glue gun
and just tack glue that hem back
you don't have to go all the way around
just kind of tack it in there so it
stays in there because it's not it's not
going to come out because there's no
stress point on it
and we're going to do that for both
sides
all right now we're going to go ahead
and apply the pockets and we're just
going to put them down towards the
bottom of the shirt kind of evenly
spaced
and again we're just going to glue three
sides on these so that if you want to
put something in the pocket you can
if you don't want to put it in the
pocket you can go ahead and just glue
them completely flat
and we're gonna do that for both sides
all right got the shirt done now we're
gonna all right we're gonna go ahead and
take a styrofoam ball that's 1.8 inches
we're going to cut it in half
that half part is going to be for the
dome part of our hat
we're just going to take um the pegs
poke them in there
kind of evenly space them on both sides
and then we're going to put the dome on
there
make sure it fits and then we're gonna
cut a hole into the domed
lid the dome styrofoam and we're gonna
glue that in
and that way when you put his hat on it
has a nice shape to it
just push those into it you may have to
take a pair of scissors to kind of cut
the hole in a little bit better
but just so that they're stuck in there
good
and then we're going to go ahead and
glue them in
so they stay and then we're going to
glue them into the
pool noodle and again your pool
noodle will melt a little bit from the
hot glue but that's okay
and we're gonna put a little glue on the
bottom part of the styrofoam and we're
gonna put that in there
and that's gonna be our head
okay we're gonna put our hat right over
the i mean our shirt right over the top
of it and pull it on down
and again if your pool noodle is 7.5
inches in diameter this pattern is
exactly what
what that's made for it's made for one
of the dollar tree noodles
all right then we're going to take a
knife and we're going to cut the holes
inside the arm so we can attach the arms
and then we'll go ahead and build our
arms we're going to cut two pieces out
of a
knit fabric
and you can actually enlarge this
pattern just a little bit make it a
little bit wider if you want his arms be
a little bit wider once i got done with
my gnome i wish i had made a little bit
wider a little bit thicker arm
but um you can modify this at this point
so go ahead and we're going to hem up
one side so we have a nice seam on the
on the back and a nice seam by his hand
so go ahead and hem up those two sides
and then we're going to take a piece of
pipe cleaner fold it in half and we're
going to cut our pipe cleaners
to be four and a half inches in length
then we're going to glue them in leave a
little space at the front for the bead
for the hand
and then loosely roll those up
and then glue that off at the end
go ahead and add the bead at the at the
tip for his hand
and glue that on in there
and then we're going to do the same
thing for the other side leave a little
space for the
hand at the end roll it up loosely
make sure that they're equal before you
glue it shut
and then we're going to add our bead to
this as well
all right then we're going to twist up
the pipe cleaner at the end
we're going to stick it into that hole
pull that shirt back
and then we're gonna put some glue
inside that hole and push that pipe
cleaner on in
don't put it in there too far though
because you do want to have some arms
stuck out
there before you glue this other side in
make sure that your arms are
even they're the same length
and then go ahead and glue that one in
as well
all right then we're going to go ahead
and add some glue around the edge of the
of the
styrofoam ball and we're going to glue
the shirt down
and we're going to do that all the way
around
all right now we're going to go ahead
and make the beard we're going to go
ahead and add our pattern
cut the backing only go all the way
around there
and then clean any excess fabric off of
there
then we're going to add our beard right
at the top edge of the shirt
and we're going to go ahead and glue it
on down
all right we're going to put that aside
we're going to go ahead and make his hat
we're going to cut two pieces
of pattern pieces one on the fold
and then just a single piece for the top
part
and you can use whatever kind of fabric
you want i just wanted to do something
that just wasn't regular
blue fabric so because i see a lot of
healthcare workers wearing some pretty
pretty cool hats all right then we're
going to go ahead and take our hat and
we're going to
stitch it we're going to have to gather
it up a little bit start about
one inch up from the bottom and then
finish out
one inch from the from the bottom on the
other side
and you're just going to kind of go in
and out in and out just kind of
get it in there so we can draw it up a
little bit
and it doesn't have to be exact
and just make sure you got the center
fold right at the center at the top
and just go around there and make sure
you have enough room at the end to go
ahead and hem
the bottom piece i mean the trimmed out
piece
the hat band
it's gonna need just enough room to hem
it and then you can go ahead and tie
that off after you get it
exactly where you want it and then we're
gonna glue it together
all right then we're going to take our
center again make sure the center is at
the top
and we're just going to take our hot
glue gun and go around the edge
and glue it on
make sure your two side your two facing
fabric pieces are
facing each other because we're going to
turn this on the outside
in a little bit and you want to make
sure that that has a nice trimmed edge
on it
and then do the same thing for the other
side
you just clip all the rest of your
string off of there
okay then i'm going to open it up to the
front
and then we're going to hem the two
edges of the um
hat band
all right then we're going to go ahead
and take that excess fabric we're going
to fold that band in half
and we're going to glue it to the part
where we just glued
the top to the band to trim it all out
i know there's a lot of steps to this
pattern but it'll be worth it at the end
all right there you have your hat now
we're going to go ahead and add some
ribbon to it so we can tie it
probably use about say maybe 10 inches
on each side
and we're just going to glue those into
those flaps
and just squeeze that shut
i'm going to add the nose just at the
top edge of his beard
kind of maybe about a half an inch down
and then we're going to add his hat
before we attach his hat we're going to
make a stethoscope and i'm just taking
some dollar tree
earbuds and some wire
and just kind of bending it around there
kind of seeing where i want it to be on
my gnome because i'm put these around
his neck
and you can adjust these however you
want to and then just cut that off and
then you can actually insert this into
the earbud part there's a little bit
opening in there
and if there wasn't you could just glue
these in i'm gonna glue it in on both
sides
into the earbud
and then i take some electrical tape and
i'm going to tape it around the wire to
the earbud itself
just to hold it in place
these actually worked really really well
for a stethoscope
i'm going to go ahead and measure around
my gnome to see how long i want my
stethoscope to be
before i put my tip on it and then i'm
gonna cut it off about right there
and then i'm gonna save the end that has
the pointy part
so i can stick it into my cork i'm gonna
take the wire i'm gonna attach it to the
bottom part of that
and i'm just going to take electrical
tape and wrap it all the way around it
all the way down
to secure it to the wire
and you can use whatever you want to for
the end i couldn't find anything so i
just cut a piece of a cork off
and i'm going to wrap it with the foil
smooth it out really good then go ahead
and glue your cork onto it
and then we're just going to fold up the
edges all the way around
then just glue those in
okay take a little piece on the top just
to kind of trim out that
rough edge and then just glue it down
then the plug part we're going to stick
it right through there
that cork and that's what's going to
hold it on to our
other wire and just tape those together
with electrical tape
and then we're going to add attach this
to our gnome before we put our hat on
just wrap it around the back and we are
going to glue it to our styrofoam once
we get it exactly how we want it
and then i'm going to take a piece of
duct tape and tape over the top of it
just to secure it better
okay then we're going to attach our hat
now what i did after the fact
i put stuffing in my hat i went back
after
the video and did put stuffing in it and
it totally
changed the way the hat fit i definitely
recommend
adding some polyfill in there and then
gluing the hat down
i actually had an opening in the back
that i could stuff it up in there
in that hole in the back but go ahead
and add your poly feel to fill that hat
out really really well
before you glue that hat all the way
down next we're going to take a
piece of the um non-woven fabric two and
two and a half inches by five inches and
we're just gonna start according it
until we have three folds in there and
that's
going to be the front you're going to
glue those folds all the way down
on both sides
and then we're going to fold it in half
and trim off the
top edge and then we're going to take a
real mask and that's what we're going to
use for that are just the little
strings to hold it on just going to fold
those
in half and then we're going to glue
those down
they don't have to be real long we're
just going to tuck those up underneath
his hat here in a little bit
and then we're going to take that last
flap and glue it over the top to hold
all that in
and then you can trim it
i'm going to go ahead and glue it to his
nose
and we're going to stuff those strings
up underneath the hat and glue those in
put a little bit on both side of his
nose to kind of pinch it on there
and then we'll tuck those little strings
up underneath this hat and glue those in
all right there you have it a little
healthcare worker gnome
if you have any um suggestions for me of
other videos that you'd like to see be
