Pre-Health Science Program - George Brown College

my name is Jennifer Nugent and I'm

representing the pre-health program what

inspired me to join the pre-health

program was the fact that it was very

streamlined I'd always wanted to brooch

into the medical field but I didn't love

school so I didn't spend a lot of time

doing it and this was a streamlined way

to for me to just go right into the

nursing program pre-health science is

one of our largest programs and it's a

really great program for students who

need to upgrade their math and science

as well as build confidence and explore

different career options in the

healthcare field so it gives them a

really supported two semester program

before they enter diploma programs and

throughout this program they have small

classes intensive support we have a

pathway specialist who provides academic

advising we have a Student Success

specialists who provides peer learning

opportunities one-on-one support to help

them develop success strategy student

study strategies and all kinds of

one-on-one and small group guidance so

that they can be successful this faculty

were great I think honestly they were so

helpful and so like genuine they really

wanted me to succeed and that at my the

point of my life it was a second career

choice so I really made me feel looked

after I like that some of our students

in diploma programs then get a clear set

of job skills that they have along with

field placement experience others are

looking to go on to further education

and they get the preparation for that

and many of them are unclear about just

what kind of education they want a

student may know that she wants to go on

in business for example but just not

know is the marketing is it accounting

what are they particularly interested in

and then as they get some experience

with preparatory courses they start to

see oh I'm so much more interested in

this than I am in that so that's the

direction it's within your grasp if

that's what you want to do the

pre-health is a great vehicle for that

so you have to do is just sign up you

just have to apply and do it and know

that there's help and there's lots of

like support so basically if you want to

succeed you will because they want you

to succeed
