Hunter S. Thompson's grandmother didn't deserve this.
Hunter S. Thompson's grandmother was a kind, loving woman who didn't deserve the fate that befell her.
On August 3, 1937, Hunter S. Thompson was born in Louisville, Kentucky. His father, Colonel James Thompson, was a public relations man for the United States military, and his mother, Virginia Ray Thompson, was a stay-at-home mom.
Hunter was a bright child, and his parents encouraged his love of reading. He was especially fond of the works of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells.
In 1950, when Hunter was just 13 years old, his father passed away suddenly from a heart attack. This tragedy had a profound effect on young Hunter, and he began to rebel against authority figures.
He started skipping school and getting into trouble with the law. In 1952, he was even arrested for stealing hubcaps.
Fortunately, Hunter's grandmother was there for him during this difficult time. She was a kind and loving woman who believed in her grandson's potential.
She encouraged him to pursue his dreams, and she even paid for his first semester of college.
Sadly, Hunter's grandmother passed away in 1957, before she could see her grandson achieve his full potential.
Hunter went on to become one of the most influential writers of his generation. His groundbreaking work changed the way we think about politics, culture, and society.
And while she isn't here to see it, we know that Hunter's grandmother would be proud of the man he has become.
