As a nursing student, you know that food hygiene is important. You also know that nutrition is a vital part of overall health. But what you may not know is how the two are related.
Food hygiene is the practice of keeping food clean and safe to eat. This includes washing hands, cooking food properly, and avoiding cross contamination. nutrition is the study of how food and drinks impact our health.
The two are closely related because what we eat can affect our health in both positive and negative ways. That’s why it’s important to learn about both food hygiene and nutrition.
Here are some tips for practice good food hygiene:
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before handling food.
Cook food thoroughly, using a food thermometer to ensure it reaches the proper temperature.
Avoid cross contamination by keeping raw food separate from cooked food.
Wash cutting boards, dishes, and utensils after each use.
