Zelensky Is Really a Comedian

It's official: Ukraine's president is a comedian.

No, seriously.

Volodymyr zelensky, who was elected in a landslide in April on the promise of cleaning up Ukrainian politics, is a former stand-up comic and actor. And he's not afraid to use his sense of humor to get his point across.

In his first major speech to parliament, zelensky joked about the fact that he doesn't have a political party.

"I am not affiliated with any party," he said. "I am not even sure if I am affiliated with any political thoughts."

He also took a shot at the country's oligarchs, saying they should "stop stealing" and "start investing."

And in an interview with BBC News, zelensky was asked about his thoughts on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"He's a great guy," zelensky said, before adding, "I'm just kidding."

It's clear that zelensky is not your typical politician. And that's something that many Ukrainians are hoping will be a good thing.

zelensky's election was a direct rebuke of the country's political establishment. He ran on an anti-corruption platform and promised to bring fresh faces to government.

And so far, he's delivered on that promise. In his cabinet, there are several ministers who are in their 30s and 40s. And in addition to being a comedian, zelensky is also a successful businessman.

But can a comedian really run a country?

That's yet to be seen. But zelensky is off to a promising start.
