Political Activism and Social Productivity

In the world of politics, activism and social productivity, there are two main types of people: those who do and those who talk. Those who do are the ones who get things done. They are the ones who take action and make things happen. They are the ones who are productive.
Those who talk are the ones who talk a lot. They are the ones who are always talking. They are the ones who are never productive. They are the ones who never make a difference.
There is a lot of talk in politics these days, but very little action. Too many people are just talking, without ever doing anything. Too many people are just talking, without ever making a difference.
But there is one type of person who is both talk and do. These are the productive people. They are the ones who are both talk and action. They are the ones who get things done. They are the ones who make a difference.
They are the politicians.

and try to improve the human condition
is through political protest and that's
certainly something that's been present
on uc berkeley's campus the past few
weeks it's certainly something that's
present today
and a few of the direct consequences of
these protests have been
a decrease in the overall productivity
of our campus faculty have been sent
home early
traffic's been disrupted the bart was
shut down the amtrak was shut down and
of course students are distracted from
their studies
so in your opinion do you think that
political activism or working for a
political cause that you know you really
believe in is worth lower levels of
productivity in the traditional sense
um
well
i uh i'm not gonna i'm not gonna switch
to that but uh no i think that uh
i think that
i think there are
i think there are all these contact no
this is real this is really a this is
really a classic berkeley event today uh
on so many levels um
this is actually this is really really
cool really one-of-a-kind um
but no no more seriously i think um
look i think i there are all these ways
i think politics is very it's very
important it's uh it surrounds us in our
society in all sorts of ways
um
it surrounds us in all sorts of ways in
our society um it's not clear how
productive it is in general i um um i
think that uh you know i think it
generally just gets people riled up and
angry um it's not clear they end up
doing things that are all that
productive
