sometimes are not available to you but

most of all protect yourself from

hackers out on the internet whenever you

are traveling and using public wi-fi you

need to start using a vpn so if you

don't know what a vpn is it is basically

a virtual private network now what does

this mean it basically means that

whenever you are using a public wi-fi

like for example at starbucks or an

airport or wherever you are when you're

traveling and you're using a public

wi-fi that you are basically protected

from any hackers accessing your data so

what hackers usually do is they will go

to like these popular places like

restaurants cafes or airports or even

just public spaces in general and they

will try and access people's data

whenever they are using a public wi-fi

because you're less protected now if you

install a vpn it basically means that

you are blocking off all of your data

from anybody else trying to access it

and it goes a little bit deeper than

that but basically what you just need to

know is that it protects your data and

it basically allows you to have like a

virtual location that doesn't really

exist in real life so hackers can't

really pinpoint where you're at and

neither can websites or any other

expressvpn i personally use surfshark

that's the only one that i've tried so i

so it doesn't matter if you're traveling

with like your phone your ipad your

computer or anything else you can all

use the same vpn account on the

different devices which is something

that i really like and it's also quite

affordable so i really enjoy using surf

shark but let me know if you've tried

any of the other ones and you really

like them as well now i know what you

might be thinking like is it even legal

to be using a vpn in these countries

because you're changing your location

you're hiding your information all of

these things and in 95 of the countries

using a vpn is totally legal but there

are some countries that are also

implementing some censorships and stuff

like that that have banned the use of

vpns because this allows their people

and also foreigners to access platforms

that they do not want you to use so just

make sure that you check before going to

any of these countries that a use of a

vpn is legal before applying any of the

tips that i'm mentioning in the next bit

so like i was saying the number one

reason you should always use a vpn when

you're using a public wi-fi is to just

make sure that your data is being

protected i have heard so many times

about identity theft and how people

access their data and all of a sudden

your credit cards are being emptied

because your access to your bank account

whenever you're traveling and using a

vpn just eases your mind off of those

things because you know that you will be

protected either way so this is

definitely the number one reason you

should use it when you're traveling or

even in your home country when you're

going about and using a vpn

whenever you're using a public wi-fi now

there's also some ways that you can use

a vpn to your advantage to find better

deals whenever it comes to traveling so

for example if you are living in a

western european northern american

country usually travel

is quite expensive or you can find hotel

prices that are quite high but if you

are looking from one of the more lesser

developed countries or just in general

countries that have a lower expandable

income then these same hotel prices can

be 100 200 euros cheaper whenever you

are looking at booking anything in those

countries so i tried this myself because

i thought this was really weird but

whenever i was thinking about it it did

make sense because you know these hotel

chains or these booking websites are

trying to compete in every market and

people in different countries have

different expandable income meaning that

they are able or not able to travel to

certain countries and they have more or

less money to spend so for example i was

looking at this hotel in mumbai india

and whenever i was looking from the

belgian website i could see that the

prices for three nights anywhere in

april it was around 550 us dollars for

those three nights staying in this

mumbai hotel now this is quite expensive

it was also just the first one that came

up so there's definitely cheaper hotels

out there but just to give you an

example if i looked at the website again

just turning my vpn on and changing my

location to mumbai india the exact same

hotel was also the number one hotel that

i could see but all of a sudden for the

same nights and the same

time that i was looking at in the same

hotel the prices dropped to 468

euros so that means it's almost a

hundred euro difference for the same

three-night stay in the same hotel by

just changing your virtual location like

i was saying it's totally legal to do

this in most countries so always make

sure to check before doing this but yeah

it just really makes a difference when

you're looking at hotels and if you were

already in a country and booking that

hotel you would have been on the indian

website anyway and you would have been

able to find that deal but this just

allows you to already book accommodation

in advance whenever you're still in your

home country but at the prices that are

in the local country now it's not always

guaranteed that there's gonna be this

massive difference but it's good to

check and maybe you can even save up to

a hundred dollars on a three-night stay

which i personally think is totally

worth checking because you can save out

on so much money and this also applies

for flights so if you're looking at the

airline and you can see that for example

klm is a dutch airlines sometimes it can

be cheaper if you're looking for flight

details when your location is in the

netherlands because that is where the

airline is from or also again whenever

you're traveling to a different country

always check from both countries what

the prices are because sometimes this

can be different then another way that

you can use a vpn whenever you're

traveling is for example in certain

countries

booking.com or some of these booking

websites are not available even though

they have properties listed in those

countries whenever you aren't there so

the number one example that i found with

this was whenever i was traveling in

turkey you could not access booking.com

because it's not open there like people

want you to use the local websites but

if you would change your location back

to for example belgium or the uk or

anywhere else in the world where

booking.com does work then you can still

book accommodations in turkey so yeah

it's just something that easily changes

your location makes you access certain

websites that you couldn't access before

and then this is another use that a lot

of people use vpns for whenever they are

traveling and that is to watch their

favorite shows now this is something

that you can also do

in your home country if you want to

watch something that is currently not

available in your country but also when

you're traveling and for example you're

watching friends and it's your favorite

show but all of a sudden in the country

that you're traveling to on their

netflix friends is not available anymore

so then you can just change your virtual

location to wherever you're coming from

and you can access all the movies and

things on netflix that are available or

this also works if you want to watch

like local television from your home

country in a foreign country but they're

saying that it's not available and then

the last way that you can use the vpn

whenever you're traveling is to just

stay connected with friends and family

in certain countries the major social

media platforms are currently not

available and by using a vpn you will be

able to use apps like facebook whatsapp

messenger to stay connected with your

friends and family at home and this will

also just give you an ease of mind that

there is a way for you to contact them

without having to purchase like a local

sim or sending them expensive

roaming text messages so yeah this is

definitely something that a vpn can also
