You may also like to read about:
to begin with we can say that a number
of clubs are making a lot of money some
amounts there are astronomical to look
at and it's really incomprehensible to
understand if you're looking at the
wider financial situation of this world
but that aside we can then look into the
particular clubs and we can see that 11
of them more than half come from the
English Premier League which tells us
that English Premier League clubs are
making a lot of money some of them are
making a lot of money again we're
talking about the money they make not
the expenses here because we've had this
debate before about how much debt is
being collected but for now we can see
that they're making a lot of money but
we can also see that some big European
clubs are equally very wealthy well year
after year we are having a debate on
whether the English Premier League is a
bubble that is going to burst and year
after year we are given the answer by
the actual numbers that it's not it is
the biggest most commercialized most
popular European League
one could argue that it is the biggest
most commercialized most popular league
in the world well the sustainability the
financial sustainability of the Premier
League is what has raised the questions
on whether this is a bubble or not
because alongside the vast amount of
money we see
um being collected by these collabs we
also see the astronomical amount of
their expenses
so every year we question whether debt
in some of these clubs is sustainable
and every year these clubs survive
um we don't really have an answer to
that question on what is sustainable or
not because the UF the governing body of
the sport for example had introduced the
financial fair play regulations in order
to improve the Financial Health of
European football
and yet we cannot tell if that has been
the case we do not know if it is
sustainable and we do not know if it is
healthy we know that it is wealthy in
some cases in some clubs but that
doesn't mean that it is an overall image
of Health within European football we
have seen that clubs are getting bigger
and we have seen those numbers growing
which is impressive worrisome but also
impressive
so yes it looks like we might be in that
kind of spiral situation in which big
clubs will end up being wealthier and
bigger year after year and smaller clubs
might become smaller their debt might
increase
it is very likely that this will be the
situation again we have to see what
governance rules can be introduced to
maybe maybe this is a big maybe balance
this kind of situation better but we do
not have an answer to this question nor
can we really because things in the
European landscape are changing so we
don't know if in five years time we'll
have a completely different image or
harder rules different kind of
measurements that would allow smaller
clubs or less wealthy clubs to also get
a piece of the pie
so the interesting thing to see from all
of this is whether those 11 clubs that
are in the top 20 or the 16 clubs
English Premier League clubs that can be
found in the top 30. list can actually
find a mechanism for some of this wealth
to be distributed in smaller clubs
now that would allow for a more
sustainable Championship or ligue one
and two to potentially be able to break
into the Premier League in a few years
time in that case we will not be looking
at the oligopoly as we see now in which
some clubs dominate the the scene in
this country but we might be able to see
a bit of fluctuation there smaller clubs
achieving some sort of success again
this is maybe a dream but it could be
that a mechanism could be embedded in
the system to allow for this potential
positive change
