now look we know that Karen Gillen has

gone on to Star and Guardians of the

Galaxy and Carrie Mulligan just won all

of the awards but what about those

Doctor Who stars that you didn't really

know were on the big screen and yet

bloody hell there they are with that in

mind I'm Sean Ferrick for who culture

and here are 10 Doctor Who stars you

didn't know were in huge movies

number 10 Arthur darville Robin Hood

Arthur darville brought life that

lovable lost puppy in human form Rory

Williams Rory ends up joining his bow

Amy on her travels tour at time and

space before a pesky Weeping Angel takes

them both out of the doctor's life

before joining the Doctor Who cast

darville had a number of interesting

roles in various film and TV projects he

appeared on British kids Staple in

2001 played Mick Gallagher in the 2010

biopic sex and drugs and rock and roll

and starred alongside Russell Crowe in

2010's Robin Hood okay starred as a

strong word directed by Ridley Scott

Robin Hood attempted to make the famous

Bowman cool again it didn't but

hopefully Ridley and Russell had a nice

time making it darvel turns up very

briefly as a groom in a set of stables

he's about two-thirds of the way down

the cast list on IMDb and has a single

line of dialogues that tells you all you

really need to know about his importance

to the story regardless at least he gets

to say he was in a really Scott movie

number nine Peter Capaldi Bean does it

get more British than a crossover

between Doctor Who and Mr B Rowan

Atkinson's bumbling comedy creation has

entertained generations of viewers while

rarely saying a word and became so

popular that he appeared in two feature

films starting with this one in 1997

being the ultimate Disaster Movie whisks

are a hapless hero after the United

States where he's charged with guarding

a Priceless painting inevitably being

the whole thing up and has to

replace the artwork before anyone can

notice he's ruined it even without

Atkinson the film has a fair bit of star

power to it legendary English actor John

Mills gave one of his final performances

a young Sandra Oh turns up as does the

owner of Cinema's greatest mustache Burt

Reynolds but of course the reason we're

all here is to discuss Peter Capaldi who

plays a character called Gareth at the

start of the movie kabali was an

established actor at this point so it's

rather odd to see him in such a nothing

role with barely any dialogue but on the

plus side he does Sports some rather

snazzy glasses here number eight Jenna

Coleman Captain America the First

Avenger before she was a companion but

after she was on Emmerdale Jenna Coleman

played a very small role in one of the

big film franchises of all time 2011's

Captain America the First Avenger is the

fifth installment in the Marvel

Cinematic Universe it's where we first

meet Captain Steve Rogers the human

piece of spaghetti who saves the world

after gets injected with a magic hockey

potion before he turns into a total

Beefcake Rogers accompanies his best

friend and definitely not secret lover

bulky Barnes to the futuristic World

Expo here Bucky has arranged a couple of

hot dates for the pair one of these

women is none other than the future

Clara Oswald she might not be in there

for very long but Coleman does get to

give us her best American accent with a

few lines of dialogue it's fine there

really isn't much evidence to judge it

on to be honest this was also her first

ever film role which is not too shabby

at all number 7. Matt Smith In Bruges

the phenomenal 2008 film in Rouge deals

with two Hitmen Colin Farrell and

Brendan Gleason hiding out in the

titular Belgian city after a job gone

wrong Farrell and Gleason are terrific

but a lot of the praise for this film

goes to Ray Fine's turn as The Psychotic

foul-mouthed mob boss Harry Waters Harry

serves as the main antagonist in the

picture eventually traveling into Bruce

to confront his Wayward employees he's

an absolutely fantastic character and we

almost learned even more about him in a

famous deleted scene the sequence in

question shows a young Waters taking

revenge for the death of Gleason's

character's wife he walks into a police

station confronts a corrupt cop and

decapitates him in one Fell Swoop also

he's played by Matt Smith Smith who

looks about 10 years old in the clip

embodies finds characters to a t

unfortunately his part was removed from

the final product number 6. Paul McGann

Empire of the Sun say what you like

about Chris chimnall but at least he

opened the door for more Paul McCann

appearances in Doctor Who going forward

despite not appearing in the show all

that much McGann had a long and fruitful

acting career outside of Doctor Who on

top of his outstanding performance in

the classic with nail and I and his

regrettable turn in lesbian Vampire

Killers McGann also made a very

understated appearance in Steven

Spielberg's 1987 movie Empire of the Sun

set in World War II the film stars

Christian Bale as a young boy living in

a prisoner of war camp under Japanese

rule it's part coming of Age part

military epic think of it as Saving

Private Ryan cross with E.T McGann plays

a soldier by the name of Lieutenant

price towards the end of the movie in

such a minor role that is very easy to

miss Empire of the Sun Also features a

young Ben Stiller so there's quite a lot

of star power here just waiting to break

out number five David Tennant How to

Train Your Dragon

David Tennant has been in a lot of stuff

as well as his time spent as the 10th

and 14th doctor tenant has been in the

Harry Potter franchise served as the

villain in Marvel's Jessica Jones and

voiced a cow alongside John Cena in the

kids movie Ferdinand sticking with

animated films let's look at the time he

was in the Smash Hit How to Train Your

Dragon for about 30 seconds spikelet

Jorgensen is the Viking Chief second in

command and father of hiccup's enemy

turned friend it's not loud he has maybe

three lines in the first film none in

the second and about three more in the

third that's the best use you could come

up with for David Tennant really to get

a larger fixture of Kenneth and Dragons

you need to go to the Animated Series

known as DreamWorks Dragons the spin-off

of the film series tenant reprises his

role as Spike load in over a dozen

episodes of the show adding some much

needed weight to his underdeveloped

character number 4 John Barrowman The

Untouchables we've talked about some

very minor Parts up to this point but

things are about to get even more

ridiculous 1987's The Untouchables tells

the story of famous law enforcement

agent Elliot Ness and his quest to bring

down Al Capone Ness is played by Kevin

Costner and Capone by Robert De Niro

there's also additional support from the

likes of Sean Connery and Andy Garcia as

well as a very brief appearance from the

future Captain Jack Harkness John

Barrowman isn't actually credited on the

movie instead we have to turn to his

autobiography anything goes for

confirmation of his role in a passage

talking about his early career Barrowman

writes about his experience as an extra

on the film my fuse seconds in frame

were as an uncredited extra in the scene

where Sean Connery is recruiting Andy

Garcia I'm on camera from the rear

standing in tight gray sweats with my

hands folded behind my back so Not only

was he not credited but his face doesn't

even appear in the movie fireman

describes this as a bot part which is a

very accurate way of putting it number

three tosin Cole Star Wars the Force

awakens the Star Wars sequel Trilogy

turned out quite mixed in the end but it

did get off to a fantastic start with

2015's the force awakens the Blockbuster

7th film in the Skywalker Saga in among

the Harrison Fords and Carrie Fishers

and the several other Giant names this

film attracted you might be able to spot

everyone's favorite Call of Duty playing

time traveler Ryan Sinclair actor Tolson

Cole has a minor role in the force

awakens as Lieutenant Bastian a fighter

pilot for the resistance who takes part

in the raid on Starkiller base he must

be a good pilot too as he survives the

battle and flies off into the sunset

this appearance came three years before

coal appeared in Doctor Who meaning he

was part of the Star Wars franchise long

before he joined the Tardis team number

two Joe Martin Batman Begins we still

really don't know what's going on with

Joe Martin's fugitive doctor will we

ever see her in the role again who knows

while we eagerly await that potential

return let's take a look at the time

Martin shared the screen with the Caped

Crusader in 2005 Christopher Nolan took

on the Hefty task of making Batman great

again he achieved this and then some

with the first installment of his fabled

Dark Knight trilogy Batman Begins

alongside names like Christian Bale

Michael Kane and Liam Neeson Martin

appears in the film as a prison officer

she accompanies Killian Murphy's

Jonathan crane as he visits Carmine

Falconi and looks completely bewildered

at how fast Falcone's mental health

deteriorates after spending literally

one minute with a sadistic doctor this

is easily Martin's biggest film credit

to date but after her time and Doctor

Who perhaps she'll appear in even more

movies going forward number one frima

adjuman The Matrix resurrections the

wonderful Martha Jones wasn't half put

through the ringer during a Time on

Doctor Who having to walk a dystopian

Earth that had fallen under the Master's

dastardly ruled but on the plus side

actress frema ajiman has fared much

better outside the show before Doctor

Who she did the rounds on the

predictable TV dramas the bill casualty

Silent Witness and the rest and after

Doctor Who she's been in Law and Order

UK The Carrie Diaries and Netflix's

sense8 it was this show that put her in

touch with the acclaimed director as The

wachowskis Who co-created and wrote the

whole thing so when Lana Wachowski was

directing the fourth installment of the

Matrix franchise she knew exactly who to

call when casting a small role ajiman

plays a character called Astra in the

movie one of Neo's fellow developers at

the game Studio where he works it's a

brief part but it's enough to notice

that she hasn't aged a day in the 11 and

years since her final Doctor Who

appearance are we sure she's not a Time

Lord it might not be a major role but

with Doctor Who Torchwood and now the

Matrix Agumon is collecting sci-fi

franchises like stanos collects Infinity

Stones that's everything for our list

today folks what did you think and more
