hello ladies and gentlemen today we're

going to be taking a look at a

decentralized vpn that you can actually

buy instead of buying or renting one

from like a hosting provider like to

name a few nor vpn or all these other

server providers uh you can instead get

one yourself and i was really interested

in this product because there are a lot

of problems that are presented when you

want to decentralize something like a

vpn

um two of the main ones that i thought

of while i was looking at this product

which basically to describe what a vpn

does is it redirects your traffic and

encrypts it and stuff like that

um in a very low level it's number one

um

i actually looked into being like a vpn

host because i have like all these

people contacting me oh advertiser vpm i

was like oh maybe i could do one myself

the problem is though

i mean there is some configuration and

takes some time but the main issue is

like even if you rent like a company or

a server out of you know

canada for example

you still have a lot of traffic now what

do people end up using vpns for well

oftentimes you're what torrenting

something you're doing something that's

not

accessible in your country you're trying

to unlock something that's geolocked so

you're trying to do stuff that is or

you're just trying to be careful with

your security and in that case that's

probably the only good reason you could

think of um but some bad things going on

vpns we can all admit that there is a

fair share so i was curious on how they

were going to get around the fact that

you're basically putting your own vpn

server in your house and letting people

have free rein over sending stuff over

your internet now if you're like me my

isp

besides being complete dog crap

on the upload speed

also likes to send wonderful emails

whenever you

might think about

something in the caribbean

so

the point is if you want to go through

and

do that that's my first concern because

i don't want people with unlimited

access to send whatever i want over the

my internet

the second concern i had was of course

if you're putting a connecting device to

your local internet um there better be a

firewall well or there better be

something in there so you can't just

someone can't connect to this and say

hmm let me scan and look for a printer

oh i'm going to print something and

basically either access drives that are

open on your network access computers

that are open on your network which you

probably shouldn't do either and all

that stuff i was curious about how

they're going to solve those two issues

which good thing to say they have so

first things first i like to go over the

contract that i was sent to this by this

company i just have one minor caveat

that i'd like to share with you all

something i feel should be disclosed and

then after that we'll jump to the

features overall i can actually say i'm

pretty happy with this product but let's

real quick hop onto this contract and i

just want to make a quick comment about

some stuff one thing i have a minor

caveat with was i was offered this

contract now um contracts are not

unheard of in the stuff that i do except

for the fact that for reviews usually

you don't sign a contract it's a little

weird um

the other thing is originally

not only do they want to just send me

the product to review which is usually

standard for most the things that i end

up reviewing on this channel

i'm sending them for free so

if i am reviewing something

everything is sent for free um i usually

like to tell people that that's the case

um

and so i am no more likely to incline to

like recommend one product

than another product that i receive for

free and that's pretty much the standard

um but in this case they also wanted to

offer me 15

usd

for every single one that sold through

my links

now i have an issue with this normally

like for example amazon affiliate links

i get basically a percentage of the

sales which is kind of similar to what

this is except

i get this for every product so for

example if you know a 3d printer i

review or another product like this

i would get the same rate pretty much of

relatively of course depending on price

and stuff basically the same percentage

from selling you know you buying this

through my affiliate links versus buying

something another similar product that i

also review

so that means that

i am no more likely to incline you or

ask you or give a better review because

i'm going to make more money from this

um

than the other product and i think

that's also relatively fair

but here the company is specifically

offering me money to sell more of this

product

and

obviously i didn't sign this i actually

ended up doing signing any contract but

i thought that was just slightly weird

and something that you the viewers

should know if you end up looking at

other reviews um keep in mind now that

being said it's actually a relatively

decent product and i'm actually pretty

impressed with how they dealt with some

of the problems but

shady shenanigans deserves to be

addressed

so that being said let's take a look at

this

now

the first thing i want to point out is

or my first as i mentioned my two

concerns

basically accessing your internet or

devices on your network that would

normally be behind a firewall which

apparently

they've addressed using a firewall so

you have a firewall on your router and

you have a firewall on this

additionally

um the concern about having your network

being used for things

that you don't want and your isp don't

want and you don't want to have to deal

with explaining the police why someone

did something on your internet

um

there are some also some ways you can go

around doing that it looks like i've

messed around this for a little bit

looks like you can even disable that

so we'll see so first off i want to

point out that this is a very nice

box

it's aluminum

it's nice feels nice

high quality no issues there

um you've got two ethernet ports

now one of my

already i wish this was not just limited

to ethernet devices you're supposed to

put this

between your router

and your modem in some cases or between

you know your router and a device on

your

like my laptop up here that will be

trying it on um i do wish there was an

option to you know for example

a wireless version so like if i went to

like university or something i wouldn't

have to find a network device to use

this i could just maybe for example

connect to a device

it could generate its own wi-fi network

connect to it and then that way it'd be

something a little bit more portable i

understand this is for the home device

and the market is for so no issues there

so in the box we got a cable to power it

on

and an ethernet cable a small one with

that so basically what this does is you

plug both ends and you have pretty much

ethernet access so on the side here you

have a couple things you have a usb port

you have a usb type-c port and then an

sd card and looks like some holes for

ventilation

no way a visible way to open the box is

probably underneath these feet pads

which are pretty nice rubber ones

and

let's get started

so i'm going to plug this in real quick

and we'll load up the web panel just to

show you kind of what we're looking at

let's just take a look here so first off

um

this is what you're looking at here

you got some uptime

um uploads downloads stuff like that

um so you've got a couple different

options you've got sharing it's like

your sharing config which you can

disable the sharing which was my major

issue um if you wanted to opt out of

that obviously this defeats the purpose

of it being decentralized if everyone

doesn't share

and then obviously there's nothing

that's

available um some things that are

interesting though

you can watch your traffic through your

device

um you have a couple different modes

tunnel so tunnel lets you go through and

uh

basically select which region you want

so for example uh i want north america

and let's try in north america and let's

do canada

um

and then we should get canada and we

should find

a new ip with that soon

so you can also select some modes too so

for example you can enable full route

and then the tunnel you want to go

through

so then that way you can make sure that

like for example if you wanted all your

traffic to go through you're doing

something kind of concerning um you can

go through the tunnel there and then

you'll get assigned a new ip so then

when i go to like what's my ip i can see

that the tunnel so pretty much you have

unlimited ips that you can go through

and let's see if we can do a speed test

so the speed test isn't great um keep in

mind i usually get about 400 500 megs

down so that's substantially less

but for example i would be very cautious

if you were downloading large files um i

would be more concerned of just making

sure that the you know accessing

something um accessing i don't know on a

streaming that may be concerned if you

have a bunch of devices on there and of

course network latency and all that

stuff so obviously

bandwidth is going to be a primary issue

and that just depends on whatever host

you're connecting to what their ip

address is so you can pretty much go

through and

control what service you connect to um

these are all people that have similar

boxes and they may not have it logged

out locked down um i've already tried

doing some

basic like phishing is that the right

word

but just looking for seeing if there's

any you know basically trying to access

web panel ports see if there's anything

out there

that redirects to like a router config

or something something you don't want

actually

accessible by strangers on the internet

um so additionally sharing you also have

a sharing log which you can see what

users have actually gone through and

accessed um obviously i i don't want to

particularly turn this on um especially

with already the issues i have for so

for a couple options with the sharing

though obviously you become a host then

and so you have sharing and you can

basically see what other people are

accessing when they connect you can

block people etc and then you have

obviously the option to disable it and

then bittorrent sharing also disable it

you can also set a

bandwidth limit so it's not using a

whole lot of bandwidth

that may be what other people have done

as well so you don't want to you know

have your internet completely full of

people using your

you know doing stuff on there you want

to make sure you have access to your own

internet too

so there's also a whole long list of

adjusting for like filters so you can

filter out

basically ads you can block malicious

stuff block trackers

or i don't know what

what they are what their rules are when

they do this

how they prioritize it i would assume

they're blocking basically the the

general you know google ads domains

blocking some of like the tracking from

google facebook all the companies you

don't want which is perfectly fine

blocking malicious stuff

you also have looks like porn disabled

so if you just want like a network

disabled then you can try that and see

what happens

so let's see enable all filters so

overall it looks like the system the

actual box has the four cores two

gigabytes of memory and honestly that's

expect what you'd expect for a normal

router so i don't think there's much

issues in there

so overall a couple things to keep in

mind um

don't expect to get full

like vpn bandwidth so i'm something

you'd get from a normal provider keep in

mind these are most likely people

they're using residential internet and

residential internet providers to host

this on this is probably something that

everyone is using so downsides of course

is that when you buy this you're going

to be experiencing lower speeds probably

a little higher latency there's a lot of

factors in there that are negative but

there is also a lot of positive you have

much more freedom in the ip addresses

you use you probably have regions that

you normally wouldn't get vpn providers

to provide to you have a lot of

freedom and i guess somewhat protection

and what you end up doing this is

encrypted um

so

when it goes through here you can

hopefully get to wherever you want to go

without any people peering in on you so

my two main concerns were obviously

making sure that people are not doing

legal things on my internet which you

can pretty much all out pretty much

outright disable which is fine and great

that means you can

basically

take from everyone else but not provide

anything which

is not

probably right

but in the case if you're curious and

concerned about

illegal stuff going on on your internet

uh a valid option

um

number two um accessing people's

devices on their network it looks like

it's all blocked so

should be fine and uh

not concerned about that either

so my only complaint

i have the entire issue

my only complaint

is obviously bandwidth speed latency etc

stuff that's your it's not a full vpn

provider they're not dedicated that

they're not

whoever you're connecting to is not

dedicated that

um now the concern is just some of the

way that they uh oh you know having to

sign a contract and

wanting to pay you money to sell

products if it's a pay promotion that's

fine and that's really the kind of

offers that i end up getting in paid

promotions are we'll pay you for every

product that you sell

not reviews and to be clear this was

marked out to be a review

so

if you choose to

purchase this

go ahead

um there's an amazon affiliate link in

the description

and uh no they might not be on amazon

who knows and uh

yeah

i guess that's i'm probably just a big

hypocrite y'all amazon affiliate links

and you know

getting money from this too but i i feel

like there's a difference and that's my

my concern is

especially because paid promotions

that's usually how they work you get

money directly from the company whereas

not from amazon because amazon gives you

money regardless of what you're selling

anyway

hope you had a wonderful day and uh
