i like this reptile hey kids we have

ayden here today he's a zookeeper here

at reptilia he's gonna take out one of

the reptiles it's called an african gray

parrot

let's see it awesome nice to meet you

guys let's bring it up

hello kiva

and is this bird an actual reptile so

yeah so this is kiva this is our african

gray parrot and you can find these guys

in central africa and what's really cool

and what a lot of people don't know is

that birds are actually reptiles

and the reason we know that is because

we actually made the connection with

dinosaurs so for those of you who know

what a theropod is that's a dinosaur

that stands on its hind legs and has

hollow bones so like uh velociraptors

and other types of raptors they have the

exact same skeletal structure to a lot

of our modern day birds so after that

big asteroid hit 66 million years ago a

lot of the smaller avian dinosaurs or

prehistoric birds survived and they

adapted and they became to what we see

as birds today so yeah birds are

dinosaurs

wow that's pretty cool and what's her

name so this is kieva

kiva hi kiva nice to meet you and what's

really interesting about these guys

they're actually one of the smartest

pieces of parrots in the world i believe

her she has the average intelligence of

a three-year-old but sometimes the

maturity of a two-year-old so what's

really interesting these guys are uh are

great at mimicking different sounds and

they've actually been known to

understand the human language and they

can learn multiple languages as well

right now keep is still learning a lot

of different noises and sounds but

occasionally she will say hello and

goodbye or cat noises in this case

she'll also she's also able to mimic

cell phone rings as well which is pretty

cool to watch she's so

excited you're excited can she say any

words so sometimes she'll say hello it

depends on how she's feeling

wanna say hi

kiva

wanna say

hello there you go wow

that's awesome yeah pretty cool

it was nice to meet you

you're beautiful

you want to say bye kiva

very good good girl all right i'll see

you later kiva it was a nice meeting you

guys very nice thank you no problem

that was awesome did you see her she's

so cool

[Music]

and it loves to eat fish

it lives in africa

and it also lives in freshwater lakes

and

rivers what do i see here

come

whoa i'm getting close

but don't worry it's a fake one

arms and his fingers

and look at those teeth

chomp chomp chomp chomp

that's really cool
