so if you're using vpns to access the

net or if you're trading on crypto

exchanges well something is going to

drastically change now

new rules have been rolled out by the

iit ministry and now vpn companies and

crypto exchanges and data centers will

need to share all their user data with

the government and it's going to be

shared and saved with the government for

a period of five years if you don't

comply with this it could lead to

imprisonment for one year what does all

of this mean and how is it going to

impact you will tell you everything

so very quickly basically a vpn stands

for a virtual private network what this

network basically does is to mask your

internet protocol address so whatever

you are doing online if you are using a

vpn then all your online actions will

remain untraceable and india has seen

the

highest growth of vpn users all over the

world

so as and when this new rule is rolled

out the end user is going to be majorly

impacted because your privacy and

anonymity is going to go out the window

because all your user data will be saved

with the government what that basically

means is that from your browsing history

to your download history whatever you

are doing online even if you're using a

vpn it is going to be saved with the

government apart from this companies who

are giving this kind of vpn service they

will have to switch to storage servers

which will be an extra cost for the

companies and who will bear that extra

cost obviously the end user so vpn

services will no longer be private and

anonymous and they're going to get more

expensive

so the new laws are expected to come

into effect from about 60 days after

being issued

which basically means end of july july

27 2022 that's when this rule will

become

active

so browsing and download history apart

data regarding any unauthorized access

of social media accounts it systems

attacks on servers and more will also be

stored defacing any websites malicious

virus attacks attacks on any servers

identity thefts along with data breach

and leaks will also need to be reported

so all in all

as a user as a vpn user if you decide to

cancel your subscription to any vpn

provider

the new rules state that the vpn

provider will still have to maintain and

keep a track of users even if they

cancel their subscriptions

and that data is going to be with the

government for five years or whether

it's going to be kept with the

government for longer who's to say do

you feel it's a welcomed change
