The marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® card is currently the most expensive hotel credit card on the market, and it’s got some VIP perks to match its $650 price tag (and making it a sort of secondary amex Black Card for marriott loyalists).
While some people may consider getting it instead of the amex Platinum Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card, or the Hilton Honors Aspire Card, it’s not necessarily meant to replace any of them (although it can).
For people who regularly stay at marriott hotels (especially at upscale and luxury brands) and who want 1 premium travel credit card, sure, the marriott Bonvoy Brilliant can make sense.
But for others who like to maximize their rewards, there’s a different perspective to entertain. The Bonvoy Brilliant can actually work alongside other travel credit cards. That’s because those other cards are better for earning more flexible travel rewards like amex Membership Rewards points or Chase Ultimate Rewards points, while the amex Bonvoy Brilliant is best used for its perks and benefits (many of which are listed below).
- Bonvoy Brilliant $300 Dining Credit ($25/mo.) at restaurants worldwide
- marriott Free Night Award worth up to 85,000 points
- 25 Elite Night Credits every year towards the next tier of status
- Earned Choice Award after spending $60K in a calendar year (See award choices at: https://www.choice-benefit.marriott.com/brilliant)
- Airport lounge access via a Priority Pass membership
- $100 marriott Bonvoy Property Credit for Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis properties
- ShopRunner membership – Activate here: https://www.shoprunner.com/enroll/americanexpress
- Access to American Express Experiences & Access programs
