Backyard MOVIE Night | DIY Outdoor Theater!

- And we are at Grammy and Papa's house

actually, right now.

They are out here in the backyard

because it's spring break

and we were trying to find something fun to do

without doing too much.

This was actually Grammy's idea.

I give her all the credits, DA, DA, DA

- [Grammy] DA, DA, DA ,DA, DA DA

We had a signal earlier

and we're playing and now I can't get a signal.

- Oh, Lord.

So much for my big reveal

but it's a big projector screen

to play movies on.

Got it off of Amazon.

It's like on these poles

and then it's just like the little projector screen.

And then here's the actual projector also from Amazon.

Apparently the WIFI is not working

as soon as I start recording.

But what I'm getting at is

that we are trying to have a backyard movie night tonight

like projector and everything

all the snacks and everything.

And it works out because this is not like, you know

full out party, inviting a bunch of people.

It's just gonna be me and Ziya, Grammy and Papa

Taylor and Levi.

We wanted to have Sadie and her kids come

but they're out of town, but Rell is coming.

So it's just gonna be us, you know, just the squad

but still want it to have fun

make it cute, have the snacks.

And of course, you know, me

I love a good theme

and I just so happen to have

even for this quick little backyard, spring break

not really a party thing.

I still have the supplies only because oh-

- [Rell] Hello,

- [Raven] Hey.

- [Rell] Hey.

- Anyways, what I was trying to say is

I have all these leftover,

real movie theme

like the actual popcorn cups

and the actual little nacho trays,

the hot dog boat things.

I have these kind of popcorn bags as well

and all just these different, things that you would have,

for a real movie theater experience.

I even brought some of my props.

I don't know why I just grabbed everything.

Y'all get the point. This spells out cinema.

I have this little thing

- [Grammy] This' for the kids to put their little things in.

- [Rell] Hey, how's it going?

- [Grammy] So they'll put their drink.

They get to pick a candy and then put a drink over here.

Cause it's juice box candy and popcorn over here.

And then I have these for hot dogs.

- [Raven] Oh, I had something for hot dogs too.

Well I have the little,

you could use these for that, the liners.

- [Grammy] Yeah.

- [Raven] I had that.

The reason why I had all this stuff is because

if you didn't see,

I threw a Hollywood movie themed Halloween party

and everybody dressed up as like movie characters.

So it was like red carpet movie theater theme

and I had like a bunch of decorations and stuff for that.

And I kept all the stuff that was like worth keeping.

And so I thought why not use it

for our a backyard movie night?

So this is our first time testing out the projector screen

and everything and doing something like this.

So, you know, we go see.

Hopefully it works.

The snacks look good at least.

What's on the menu?

- I'm making loaded nachos.

A dairy free version and a non-dairy free version.

- [Raven] Oh you got the great queso?

Yeah.

Vegan queso for me.

- [Grammy] [inaudible 00:03:40] for everybody else,

and then we got hot dogs too.

So I mean, I know this is like a little bit

it's gotta be like a dip.

It's a dip.

- [Raven] We got popcorn,

Even got the movie theater candy in the box.

Now, if this was a real party,

if this was a real thing

you know, I would went overboard

but this is just, you know,

- [Grammy] This just for the kids.

- [Raven] Just, just for two children

and a couple of adults.

I brought this,

which is good if you just blend it with ice.

Oh yeah.

I also had these napkins left over from the party,

popcorn seasoning, different flavors for the popcorn,

butter, nacho cheddar, chile limon, Kettle corn.

And then I brought the special slushy cups

that I had leftover from the party

With the special slushy straws.

You'd be amazed what you could find on Amazon.

Okay. So Taylor and Levi just got here,

Squads all here.

Mom is finishing up cooking.

I wanted to show you guys the little setup

now that it's dark out

and we've got it all set up.

Okay, nothing crazy.

This is just a test run.

Maybe, you know

this summer I'll do a more done up, more extra, you know

version of this and have more of a guest list.

But this is just a test run, cause we just got this thing.

So we just kind of wanted to test it out.

But my mom switched the furniture

around and brought some blankets out.

You know, you need your blankets,

You could sit on the ground on the quilt.

This little thing from her patio makeover.

If you haven't seen that video

came in handy, to prop up the projector.

And this is the soundbar, like the speaker.

Yeah. So yeah, everybody can just get cozy out here.

The screen is actually nice and big.

We need to adjust the, the projector to make it straight.

But it actually like looks really good.

Like it's clear is vibrant.

It's really big.

I think the sound is gonna be good.

It should be good.

It's like a pretty simple setup

that you can just like plug into your laptop

and just play whatever from your laptop.

Yeah.

I'll definitely link the projector and everything.

And the screen down below for you guys,

like I said, it's from Amazon.

So if y'all wanna check it out

it was pretty reasonably priced.

Just using some potted plants

for some weights to make sure it doesn't blow away.

And the weather is actually really nice tonight.

It's like a nice,

it's not hot. It's not cold.

It's like, I would guess maybe 70 degrees.

So it's a nice, comfortable temperature.

Side note. Ziya just bumped her head.

She's fine.

You know, five year-olds.

But if you see,

if you see a bump on the side of her head

for the rest of the vlog,

she's fine.

Just, just ignore that.

- [Rell] It's a little crunch.

Update on the food. We were ...

Well,

hot dogs.

It's still a hot

a hot dog is a hot dog by any other name

attempted at bacon wrapped, attempted at toasted.

It's probably fine.

Taylor don't drink,

But Rell does.

- [Taylor] Rell does.

- [Rell] Thank you.

- [Grammy] Well, Ma'am.

You can have have some of that

- Thank you B, friends.

- [Raven] There you go.

Look at Levi looking at you, like?

- [Taylor] Your such an embarrassment.

- Okay, well lemme make my little vegan nachos.

- [Grammy] Ziya you want hot dog?

- Ziya is over there. Icing her forehead

Slushy, nachos?

(Relaxing music)

- Okay. I got my chips, my meat, my beans.

Here's my vegan queso that I warmed up.

Mm. This queso is good.

You would never know the difference.

And then why not?

I'm gonna do guac on the side, taste it.

Get a little chip right here.

I mean, my palette has changed since going dairy free

but will you think it's as good as regular queso?

Probably not, but for vegan

- I'm not mad at it.

- [Raven] See

- [Rell] But she gonna have some say,

- [Taylor] I'm gonna give it an honest interview, Okay.

Oh that's cheesy for the aren't dairy-free.

- [Rell] It's, it is definitely a cashew base.

But, its not bad.

- Oh wait.

- [Raven] See

- No that's good.

- [Raven] And the one with chorizo in it has even more like

- [Taylor] Texture.

- [Raven] You know.

- [Taylor] That's actually really good.

- It's kind of spicy.

- Yeah.

- [Raven] Yeah, It has flavor.

- [Taylor] You don't have the spice?

- Maybe I ...

- [Rell] There's chunks of, you know, like jalapeno in it.

You probably and get a chunk.

- I could do that.

- [Raven] Y'all could trust my recommendations now.

Look how legit.

This looks in its little basket.

You just want popcorn.

You can have it.

There's some in that thing right there.

We have several options.

You can have a small cup.

- [Taylor] Is that what you want?

A large cup, a little bag?

- I want a large cup

- A large cup.

- You know what? A small cup.

- [Raven] That cup, Okay.

- [Grammy] Here let me get some popcorn in there.

There we go.

- [Raven] Just like the theater.

What are you eating?

- Hot dog and chips.

- [Raven] Hot dog and chips,

So you eat the wiener and the bread separate.

Did you want the bread?

Cause if you don't want the bread

we could give it to somebody else.

You want it? Okay.

Okey-dokey.

Everybody got their food.

Their snacks.

- [Grammy] Oh, that feels wet.

Let me get another one.

- So apparently when my parents brought all the

blankets out here earlier, it drizzled for a hot second

like it rained a little bit

because all of our stuff is a little bit moist.

I was like, OK, lemme get coz wait a minute.

- Yeah, That one too.

- Everything.

- It did drizzle by our house.

It wasn't like a full on down for though.

But it was like a little

- Yeah. So we're having to replace our setup.

See, this is why we're doing a test run of this situation.

Before we throw a real movie night party with more people

note to self don't.

Put the blankets out before you're ready.

Cause it might rain.

- [Taylor] Oh my God.

- Okay. Today at Grammy cinemas.

We don't play new movies here.

- Action.

- [Rell] Yeah, I'm good.

- [Raven] Grammy made little baskets for the kid.

Popcorn, juice, Candy.

Wow.

Okay. So everybody had their nachos and hot dogs.

The main course.

Now I'm about to bring

out some candy and have all the popcorn seasonings

and we made some popcorn, put it in here.

So this is kind of like the dessert moment.

I'm gonna bring this out.

I didn't even know we had this.

Okay. Hold on so far.

So good.

The projector and the sound

and the everything works really well.

That's the TV in here

but the actual mechanisms and the tech is working.

So I'm glad about that.

My mom was saying it's gonna be really nice when

my pool is done to have it, you know, next to the pool

you could like float in the water and watch a movie.

Okay.

Candy? Can I offer you a candy, sir?

- I don't think I should've gotten that recorded,

I'm gonna take a, thank you.

- [Raven] Okay.

- Excuse me, Excuse me.

May I offer you guys a candy,

- I want some.

- The projector also makes a great spotlight.

Well, it was a successful movie night.

Now we know what to do, for next time.

Next time we'll have it out by the pool.
