When it comes to creating a home for our little friends, we often forget about the insects. But did you know that by building an insect hotel, you can provide a safe and welcoming space for them to stay?
Not only will you be helping the environment, but you'll also get to enjoy watching the insects as they go about their day-to-day lives.
building an insect hotel is a fun and easy project that anyone can do. All you need is a little bit of time and some basic materials.
- A container (such as a milk carton or plastic container)
To begin, cut the top off of your container and then make a few holes in the sides. These holes will be used for the insects to enter and exit the hotel.
Next, take your straws and cut them into pieces that are about 3-4 inches long. These pieces will be used as the rooms for the insects.
Now, take your piece of cardboard and cut it into a square that is slightly smaller than the opening of your container. This square will be used as the door for the insects.
To assemble your hotel, start by glueing the straws to the inside of the container. Make sure that the straws are pointing in different directions so that the insects will have plenty of room to move around.
Once the straws are in place, glue the piece of cardboard over the opening of the container. This will be the door for the insects.
Now, all you need to do is find a spot for your hotel. Once you've found the perfect location, sit back and watch as the insects start to move in.
