for gaming so if you're looking for a good gaming  vpn then you're in the right place okay so gaming  

vpn services are becoming more and more popular  and while the best vpn can be invaluable for  

protecting yourself from ddos attacks and  from angry opponents they can also do a  

heck of a lot more it's not uncommon to  experience a poor internet connection  

and often isps target high bandwidth users like  streamers and gamers with connection throttling  

they do this to ensure that every  customer gets similar speeds and so  

those who use the most bandwidth are penalized  with limitations and it's no secret that even the

now i was not really surprised that expressvpn  performed better than any other services when it  

comes to to best for gaming in fact express  delivers excellent speeds so you won't see  

yourself lagging and if your isp delivers regular  speeds of around 100 or 200 megabytes it's uh  

unlikely you'll notice any change at all but  in my testing express topped out a searing  

630 megabytes per second on a one gigabytes per  second line which is more than fast enough for  

competitive gaming also expressvpn provides a  dedicated router vpn app which means you'll be  

able to avoid throttling and and stay secure even  on consoles that don't support vpns plus express's  

media streamer smart dns tool will allow you  to switch locations on your playstation or xbox  

to access geoblock content and then outside of  gaming you'll also be able to unblock pretty much  

any regional netflix library as well as access to  restricted sites like bbc iplayer even if you are  

in the us plus if you ever have any issues  express's 24 7 live chat will be able to sort  

it out in just minutes and if i had to find a  negative it it would have to be that express  

only offers five simultaneous connections per plan  however if you install one of those on your router  

any device connected to that router will be  covered and then you can install the other four  

on phones and laptops and and anything else you  take away from the home so as a whole there's not  

a service that that can challenge expressvpn so if  you're looking for a gaming vpn that can help you  

avoid throttling keep you safe safe from hackers  and prying eyes and unblock streaming media too  

well expressvpn should be at the top of your  list and if you'd like to give express a try i'll

regular price if you're interested and then for  my second recommendation for gaming it would have  

to be nordvpn so as has the most famous vpn around  you might expect nordvpn to work great as a gaming  

vpn and uh well you'd be right actually in in  my tests i found that this panama based provider  

delivered some of the the fastest speeds i've  tested and with nord you'll have a network of like  

5100 servers in 60 countries to pick from that  means no matter where you are you're pretty much  

guaranteed a connection that will work great on  a regular internet now sure in the past nordvpn  

suffered from slightly unreliable speeds but now  with the full roll out of the the wire guard base  

nord links protocol it's one of the fastest  on market and i also like that nord's apps are  

very very stable meaning you won't be going back  and forth to check on it and you can set it up on  

a router to cover your consoles plus with nord  streaming support is strong so you'll be able  

to watch pretty much whatever you want wherever  you want and wherever you happen to be however  

unlike expressvpn that i was talking about  earlier nord doesn't offer a dedicated uh  

router app so setup for this can be a little bit  tricky so although it's not quite as polished as  

expressvpn it's still a close match and nord's  definitely worth considering if you're looking  

for a good vpn for gaming okay so now for my third  and final recommendation surf shark is my favorite  

budget friendly vpn so surf shark is a great  cost effective vpn which really works well as a  

gaming vpn and i found that this bargain vpn  provider does quite well in a lot of areas  

now in my my last round of testing surfshark's  connection speeds were decent uh when using the  

modern wire guard protocol and while it's it's not  quite as consistent as nord and express you uh you  

can still rely on it to to not overly slow your  wi-fi and surf surfshark's network of 3200 servers  

is plenty efficient for for whatever you  might need but the biggest advantage is  

the combination of the unlimited connections  plus a sub three dollar price tag in fact both  

are really rare in the vpn industry and so that  combination is absolutely unbeatable surf shark is  

simply the best way to get a gaming vpn on  the cheap not sure the the apps don't offer  

quite as much configuration as express or  nord and yes the support system is marginally  

slower but if you're happy to stick with the  recommended settings uh and evade throttling uh  

access to tons of netflix libraries and more  then you really can't go wrong with surfshark  

so those are my top three recommendations for  gaming vpns and before i end this video i would  

like to take the opportunity to answer some  frequently asked questions that i get about  

this topic for the first question why do you need  a gaming vpn well there's there's a couple of  

reasons why you want might want a gaming vpn first  if you find your internet connection fluctuating  

uh that could be because of your isp is throttling  your connection due to your activity a vpn helps  

you avoid this by making your activity anonymous  meaning that your isp can't single you out as  

someone to drop the second reason is privacy of  course anyone is vulnerable but gamers especially  

experience ddos attacks and run a higher risk  of being hacked and a vpn can protect anyone not  

just gamers from a whole load of risks on the web  plus google won't be able to track you which is  

just an extra bonus then next the second question  that i get is is it legal to use a vpn for gaming  

yes however some of the activities that vpns are  used for might not be keep in mind that while it  

may make illicit activities possible or or easier  it does not make them legal also if you're using  

your vpn to spoof your location and buy games  at a lower price that's probably against the  

developer or distributors terms of conditions and  if you're caught your account might be suspended  

or even worse but if you're just using it to  make sure your isp isn't throttling you you  

don't have anything to worry about now for uh  the next question will a vpn increase your ping  

so uh this this is a tricky one and compared  to your standard connection at peak speeds  

a vpn is likely to to slightly increase your  ping but if you're near one of your vpn servers  

it could also decrease really though what  you're using a gaming vpn for is to stabilize  

and make your connection more reliable so on  your regular connection you might peak at a  

10 millisecond pig but when you're being throttled  that might increase to a default to mana to manage  

a 300 millisecond so by using a good gaming  vpn you can make sure your ping will stay at a  

usable speed perhaps 20 milliseconds or better if  you're used to 10 milliseconds but you can be sure  

that it will stay that way for as long as you play  instead of fluctuating to unplug playable levels
