there is no one single absolute best VPN

but there are plenty of services who

claim to be this is exactly why I tested

the 10 top VPN providers in the market

and now I can highlight the seven vpns

that are worth their premium fees and

why they're my favorite VPN 2023 options

nordvpn is one of the options that

almost always catches my eye immediately

maybe it's because of all their security

standards and the extra mile that they

go in securing their security yeah we're

talking top grade encryption and audited

no logs policy kill switch and real-time

threat protection the encryption part is

kind of expected these days but on the

Privacy side no other provider has been

audited as much and of course don't

forget their Ram only servers which are

designed to be wiped on reboot and can't

even physically retain any user data the

kill switch is an important feature that

prevents IP leaks in case your

connection is unstable and whose isn't

and finally threat protection which once

you enable it automatically runs in the

background and monitors online activity

blocks any ads or trackers or malicious

elements including actual malware but I

do kind of hope that they'll add a scan

feature you know like most antivirus

apps do still threat protection is very

effective and I'm glad that they managed

to fix that bug that caused High CPU

usage before okay now just quick small

note keep in mind that when you're ready

for the full VPN experience you'll find

additional discounts with links in the

description and in the comments and yes

I always keep those updated with the

latest and best deals out there okay now

we should all really be expecting the

best security from the best VPN service

right nordvpn does that but are they

great at anything else so to test the

performance of this VPN I've done a

thorough speed test using three primary

VPN locations the US UK and Japan and

look at that this performance is yeah

really impressive with my Baseline speed

at about 300 megabits per second my

speed never went below the 70 Mark which

yeah is more than enough for just about

everything honestly it's kind of hard to

impress anybody these days with just

good performance results it's really

going to be more about the unique more

useful features that nobody else can

offer and yeah nordvpn has one of those

meshnet I really love this feature

because it brings me back to the age of

Lan parties now because mashnet is

designed to connect multiple devices in

an encrypted long distance Network well

you can use it for business but you can

also use meshnet for Lan parties with

friends it's really just a simple idea

but so far nordvpn is the only VPN

service to implement anything like this

and for Less unique but more useful

features comes their specialized servers

look any of you more security focused

types out there are gonna end up using

double VPN or onion over VPN at some

point now those server connections add

extra steps for your connection making

your activity much harder to track but

unfortunately almost always mean harsh

slowdowns yep it's a classic trade-off

between extra security or speed take

your pick oh before I forget you can

also use P2P optimized servers which are

good for torrenting they boosted my

torrenting speed quite a bit too but not

all of nordvpn's expansive server grid

can be used for torrenting why not allow

P2P on all your servers guys but at

least Nord VPN has no restrictions for

streaming I've tried it out with the

most popular streaming Platforms in and

outside of the US and so far it was

smooth sailing good speeds and no random

buffering however not every server works

on the first try I had to reconnect from

time to time eventually it all works but

it can take some time to find a reliable

server now any VPN who covers more than

the 60 countries that Nord is in well

might give you more content to watch

anyway let's move on to the money

question how expensive is nordvpn well

Nord is actually a little pricey but it

does sit comfortably about mid category

in the market now at first it kind of

put me off I'll be honest but after

testing everything out I kind of felt

like the overall value was well worth

the price especially when you consider

that a single VPN subscription can be

used on up to six devices at the same

time this includes mobile devices which

are nearly as functional as their PC

counterparts really only a couple of

differences in there plus 30 day money

back guarantee makes it easy to opt out

if you want to that all said If you're

looking for max value though surf shark

is probably the second best option right

now for me it stands out from the other

best vpns not just with the low price

but also because of its unlimited

simultaneous connections plus you can

get their new surf shark antivirus

bundle at a much lower price than you

would with a standalone antivirus when

testing surf shark security it's on the

same level as nordvpn it uses the same

encryption protocol has an effective

kill switch and the no locks policy was

finally audited recently yay and then

some extra value also comes into play

from some additional security features

and lately I've grown attached to

surfshark Nexus this feature avoids IP

leaks by combining all servers into one

network so that you don't have to

disconnect to swap servers and more

importantly Nexus allows me to build

custom multi-hop connections making them

way more user-friendly since I don't

have to work around preset destinations

one downside is that this feature is in

development right now so some functions

are on the schedule to be implemented

later one more feature I want to

highlight is surf sharks clean web it

gets rid of ads trackers and malicious

Winks when enabled but unlike nordvpn's

threat protection it can't do anything

against malware yet but they do have

their one bundle if you need malware

protection and even with everything

we've already mentioned surfshark is

still very fast I guess that's what you

get with the modern wireguard protocol

but still surfshark managed to beat

nordvpn in the speed test that I did for

this VPN review surfshark also has a lot

of servers in a hundred countries in my

previous test I managed to access the

most libraries and platforms using

surfshark even those located in very

distant countries for torrenting surf

shark is also really good after all P2P

is available on all their servers even

though there's no additional support for

it so yeah no restrictions but the speed

is not optimal a port forwarding feature

or Sox 5 proxy would be really

appreciate it here guys now let's get

back to Surf shark's main strength just

take everything that I mentioned and

yeah surf shark ends up being one of the

most affordable VPN providers this is

the best value VPN that you can get

especially if you consider it has a 30

day money back guarantee after seeing

the best in security and value is there

anything Atlas VPN can offer well I

found this particular provider to be

perfect for mobile apps where surfshark

and nordvpn have inconsistent features

between mobile and their PC versions

Atlas VPN was designed to be a mobile

VPN so this makes it possibly the best

VPN on Android or iOS and I like that

Atlas has no limits on how many devices

can use a single account so yeah I could

share this account with my friends or

family if I had many friends or a family

who cared despite being a very

lightweight app Atlas VPN has top-notch

security the high grade encryption and

the kill switch are on the same level as

nordvpn in and the safe swap feature

lets you change IP addresses between

online sessions to avoid any leaks and

on top of that there's the safe browse

feature I can't really imagine not using

it I mean after all safe browse blocks

ads trackers and all that junk online

now this is a more simple feature so it

can't really compete with nordvpn's

threat protection or surfshark's

antivirus especially because it can't

block malware and unfortunately Atlas

VPN can't boast the same level of

privacy because it's based in the US of

a nope not the most privacy friendly

country is it still an audited no locks

policy does help here quite a bit and as

I've mentioned before Atlas vpn's

performance is consistent on PC and

mobile devices I got good speeds between

the same three servers that I tested

with surfshark and nordvpn clearly Atlas

VPN isn't that fast and it has fewer

servers and available locations overall

and this is especially true if you use

the free version

there's a free version and this one only

has three locations and a five gigabyte

monthly limit and to make things even

worse the free version can't access any

streaming content but I had no issues

with the premium version so you think

they're holding out but at the same time

both versions are doing well for

torrenting but uh oh the data limit is

going to become a problem in the free

version for sure but overall Atlas VPN

offers quite a lot especially for mobile

users and that's why I'm pleasantly

surprised by this vpn's price Atlas VPN

is a 30-day money-back guarantee as well

and you shouldn't forget about the best

free VPN version now you're sitting down

because you might be a little surprised

here but the next best VPN 2023 in this

list is expressvpn yep that's right it

makes a comeback as one of the most

versatile VPN providers because

expressvpn is not just one of the best

vpns for PC it's now got apps for all

the platforms that you might be using

from the common desktop and mobile ones

to Smart TVs and even routers in fact

expressvpn's router applet and its

interactive tutorial are a true

one-of-a-kind feature that is not found

in any other VPN option at least not the

top ones that I've mentioned here it's

especially perfect for beginners looking

to get a VPN for their router which will

cover every device on that router's

Network and expressvpn is still legit in

terms of security it has industry

standard encryption and a kill switch

all the stuff you'd expect the threat

manager feature is reliable at clearing

out ads trackers and malicious links

unfortunately expressvpn is still a bit

of a mess in terms of its privacy the

cape leadership is obviously a big

downside considering the company's

previous relationship with malware

production and even with the court

proven no logs policy and newly

established bug Bounty well Cape manages

to keep making obscure decisions for

instance we used to know how many

servers expressvpn has yeah not anymore

but fortunately not knowing hasn't

affected this VPN performance if

anything it's actually faster now

switching to 10 gbps servers helped

quite a bit as expressvpn now rivals

nordvpn in my speed test using the same

locations this speed is great for

streaming I actually had quite a decent

experience watching various content with

expressvpn there's even a great addition

with the media streamer feature that

lets me run a DNS service on gaming

consoles or older Smart TVs now as for

torrenting not a big fan of P2P with

expressvpn sure it's good to have no

server restrictions but my speed was

unreliable most of the time overall

expressvpn is a decent value despite

only being able to connect to five

devices at one time clearly not the most

generous that we've seen which is why we

say expressvpn provides decent value and

not amazing or spectacular look you

still get fast performance and reliable

security across any possible device with

a 30-day period to change your mind well

there you go now if you happen to be

someone who connects to different

servers all the time time ipvanish might

be the VPN for you in my experience as

VPN 2023 performs the best with distant

servers like for instance those in Japan

just compare this speed test with

nordvpn surfshark or expressvpn ipvanish

is doing better even though on average

its speed is less impressive this is

because ipvanish doesn't have as many

servers as other top options nor does it

cover as many countries and when it

comes to security ipvanish is as

reliable as most top VPN providers it

has the same kind of encryption and a

kill switch in terms of privacy ipvanish

does have a strict no logs policy but no

Ram only servers like expressvpn or

nordvpn or surfshark the US jurisdiction

is also not optimal for privacy

enthusiasts but there is a great

additional feature that protects user

data Big Time Sugar sync this is

encrypted cloud storage that protects

all your data from third-party influence

I'm always in favor of free add-ons so

it's cool that ipvanish gets me reliable

cloud storage and when it comes to

streaming with ipvanish the performances

alright I'm getting good speeds even

with distant locations but unfortunately

ipvanish can't access some streaming

content that I really want making it

less optimal than some of the providers

that I've mentioned before now ipvanish

is excellent for torrenting even though

it doesn't have optimized P2P servers

but it does have a free sox5 proxy which

even boosted my speed a lot especially

when compared to the numbers I was

getting with other vpns earlier great

torrenting option here and all of this

comes at an affordable price as well so

considering that ipvanish has no limits

on simultaneous connections just like

surf shark and Atlas it provides a good

overall value if you decide to change

your mind ipvanishes annual and

bi-annual plans do come with a 30-day

money-back guarantee the next VPN to

highlight is really unexpected cyber

ghost and just like expressvpn

cyberghost belongs to Cape Technologies

but it actually has to be one of the

most transparent vpns that I've used so

far cyberghost releases a transparency

report every three months with all

important information disclosed it has

an audited no logs policy and even a

privacy Hub covering important privacy

related topics on the surface cyberghost

seems to match the security practices of

other top providers the encryption is

just as effective but in my test the

kill switch proved to be ineffective

with the error coming from the app

itself because of that I can't think of

cyberghost as effective security wise

was nordvpn or surf shark and you know

maybe not so much in terms of

performance either because despite

having a lot of servers all over the

world and using the wire guard protocol

my tests show their wire guard to be

significantly slower than other vpns on

this list so while cyberghost can access

streaming content from a lot of

platforms I would not expect the same

consist see as you'd get from nordvpn or

surf shark on the other hand when trying

cyberghost for torrenting oh I got a

much better performance these P2P

specialized servers boost haunting

speeds a lot so with all that cyberghost

is still a decent option even in terms

of value it gets very affordable with

the long-term plans and even has a

30-day money-back guarantee time to

cover a notable mention here real quick

purevpn now this provider stands out

thanks to a very useful security add-on

a secure password manager while it's a

paid add-on having password protection

in combination with purevpn's encryption

and a kill switch is a big Advantage for

any security Enthusiast purevpn is not

bad in terms of performance either it

has more servers and Country coverage

than nordvpn and expressvpn speed wise

purevpn ends up being a little slower

than the others but still keeps up with

respectable and reliable performance now

while I don't manage to access as much

streaming content as usual with pure VPN

I was still able to stream with good

quality in terms of torrenting purevpn

is not that fast and P2P is straight up

blocked on some of the servers which is

not ideal at all and at the end of the

day purevpn is just not that unique but

it is a great value being surprisingly

cheap I think it's really a better

option for a beginner for those who

don't want a very complicated app to

start with plus it's easy to try it out

because you got your 30-day money-back

guarantee

concluding this best VPN review look

again no single VPN is perfect for

everyone so I focused on what each of

these best VPN options excels at for top

level security

nordvpn if you need unbeatable value

surfshark is a better option you need

the best VPN for Android and iOS then

Atlas VPN is going to be your pick you

can also try out the top VPN for PC and

other platforms with expressvpn and if

you'd like to get any of those providers

with a discount then you're going to
