being a Google pixel owner and once

we've got it all up and running I'll

explain why it's so important and here's

a little disclaimer Google May

streamline this process in the future

but you should be able to follow along

with this regardless so first of all

you're going to need the Google one app

if you don't have this already

downloaded from the Google Play Store

once you've got it open the app then at

the bottom of the app you'll see this

section here that says benefits so if

you tap on that and swipe across you'll

see this VPN available previously you'd

only have this if you subscribe to the

Google one plans tap on where it says

view details and here you'll be able to

enable the VPN we will return to this

page in a bit so keep this open in the

background but for now let's go back to

the home screen now swipe down from the

top and again and hit the little pen

next to your quick settings down here

now this top section is all the Quick

Settings that you've already got set up

and the ones down here are the ones

Notting new so you can drag any of these

up but the one we're looking for

specifically for this video

is this one down here VPN by Google one

we want to hold down on that and drag it

all the way to the top

somewhere near the top of the quick

settings so now you can swipe down and

toggle on and off the VPN as and when

you need to and this takes me nicely

onto why and when you should be using

this exclusive free security feature

some of you might already be familiar

with virtual private networks but for

those of you who are not here's a

straightforward metaphorical explanation

activating this free VPN service on your

Google 7 or 7 Pro is the equivalent to

showing up at a party wearing a mask

you're masking your online identity from

other people and not even the host of

that network will know who you are and

it does this by rooting and bouncing

your online connection through remote

servers around the world simply put this

hide your IP address from hackers and

advertisers when you're on questionable

networks however it is your

responsibility to switch it on and off

at the right times that's why I wanted

to show you how to set up the quick

setting button here here first and the

that some apps won't function as normal

show you how to get around this so go

back into the Google one home page

scroll down to the VPN section and go to

manage and then here where it says view

settings go to this and then to allow

apps to bypass VPN so I'm going to take

a wild guess and say that the apps you

have on your phone are going to be

completely different from the ones that

I have but as and when you notice some

apps aren't working correctly with your

VPN activated you need to come to this

setting here and hit the little plus

button next to the app that's not

working properly and this allows it to

bypass the VPN even when you manually

active Innovative and by doing this

you're ensuring that everything on your

device still works like clockwork even

when you're masking your identity so

take these words of advice home and
