Hundreds of pieces of TV memorabilia up for auction

hundreds of pieces from what's been

called the world's greatest collection

of TV memorabilia are up for auction

this weekend from indelible outfits to

groundbreaking TV shows even one of the

most famous bars on TV is up for sale

Omar villafranca has the story

for 11 Seasons millions of viewers tuned

in to have a beer with Norm cliff and

Sam and the rest of the characters on

the hit TV show Cheers

before it gets another beer

30 years after the sitcom's last episode

where are we we are sitting at the prime

corner of the Cheers Bar where everybody

knows your name the iconic bar and the

bar stools even the props on the wall

are all up for auction

Joshua Bennis with Heritage auctions in

Dallas showed us around and says whoever

buys the bar will also notice it comes

with a few autographs

etched into the wood by the cast Kirstie

Alley this side

and was that his spot was that

ratzburger spot that yep the cheers Barb

is just one of a thousand items up for

auction this week here on the Jeopardy

set this is one of let's see oh

yeah that's the buzzer The Collection

belongs to James komasar A scriptwriter

and TV memorabilia collector who amassed

an impressive number of pieces from hats

belonging to Gilligan and the Skipper on

Gilligan's Island to TV show costumes

like this I Dream of Genie outfit and

the Genie bottle to Adam West and Bert

Ward's Batman and Robin costumes from

the campy 1960s series

along with a myriad of Star Trek gadgets

and Spock's ears

even this Captain Kirk outfit that

William Shatner wore during TV's first

interracial kiss with the late Nichelle

Nichols

but it's the big ticket easy to

recognize items that are noteworthy Omar

welcome to the Bunker's living room this

is

I mean this occupies a big space in a

lot of people's brain this is Archie

Bunker's house

block of course Archie and Edith's

chairs come with the set after the

original chairs were donated to the

Smithsonian these two were recreated and

used in the show's final season get out

of the chair

the groundbreaking CBS comedy starring

Carol O'Connor and Jean Stapleton was

known for rewriting the rules of TV

sitcoms this was where race got

discussed for the first time this is

where homosexuality got discussed for

the first time in a sitcom this is where

family Dynamics and marriage and divorce

and unhappiness and The Strife of being

middle class happened

in

TV land for the first time

and for fans of late night talk one of

the Holy Grails is up for sale we're in

beautiful downtown Burbank yeah I think

yeah or more importantly we're behind

the king of late night's desk Johnny

Carson would you welcome Farrah Fawcett

the set for the last 10 years of The

Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson will

go for at least six digits

this is part of our Collective Nostalgia

this is what came into our homes every

day right like

day in and day out week in and week out

these were the characters that we grew

up with and that grew up with us and to

have the places that they inhabited

come back to life that that's a rare

opportunity the auction ends Sunday but

for TV memorabilia collectors the

tangible memories will last a lifetime

these your kids wouldn't even know what

pieces well if you had if you had to

pick one thing what would it be oh

there's so much I'd go for that Cheers

bar if I had the space and you could set

it up as your bar at home how awesome

would that be I would I would do
