joy and ecstasy pain and heartbreak

being a football fan can be an emotional

roller coaster but why exactly do we put

ourselves through it is it for the stats

and tactics is it for that match day

adrenaline or does it encourage you to

give something back to society the

question we're looking at on this week's

football now is what type of fan are you

hello there i'm summershu and welcome to

football now from doha where this week

we're talking about the most important

part of the game you at home the

supporters now we'll be looking at the

different types of football fans and

hopefully by the end of this episode

you'll know exactly which category you

fall into

and we'll start with the season ticket

holder traditionally lifelong supporters

who rarely miss a game home or away next

someone who uses the power of the game

for the greater good often using their

platform for charitable social causes

the third category is the stato some

football fans just love data whether

it's heat maps distance covered or

expected goals every club needs one

influencers are becoming a huge part of

the game tick tocks youtube vlogs and

instagram stories are commonplace in

stadiums today and finally fans that

often prefer the occasion to the game

itself it might be a pre-match drink or

all about a weekend away with the family

football is about more than just what

happens over 90 minutes so let's meet

some of them first we're going to

germany to meet one of the country's

most famous supporters this is lifelong

bear munich fan michael zeeman

by munich the big is a big family and

in the bad situations they help you and

any good situations you port you brought

your club and we are all a whole

community and everybody helps each other

and that it's fine it's more than a

football club that experience is

absolutely fantastic i do this since 40

years and me my my blood is red and

white for football munich i keep

everything good by muni yeah that is the

sort of passion we love to see isn't it

so michael falls into the lifelong

category but what about a football

activist now this is someone that uses

the game as a way to make a difference

our example here is the her game 2

movement they've joined forces with over

30 professional clubs in the uk their

aim is to make football a safer

environment for young girls and women

hair game 2 is a campaign that was

founded by myself and 11 other female

football fans and we founded it because

we simply had enough of sexism in

football we were finding that it was

happening on a regular occurrence both

at stadiums and online and so we all

club together to tackle the sexism and

the misogynistic culture surrounding

football what we want to do is start

encouraging more women to go to games

and women feeling safe going to stadiums

and if they feel like they are having

any sexist discrimination towards them

then the clubs will take it seriously

and there'll be something in place to to

do something about it and uh yeah take

action yeah what a brilliant idea right

now we know that technology has changed

the world but how exactly has it

impacted the evolution of stats within

the game let's hear from maram she

analyzes football for analytics fc all

the way from her home in bahrain so i'm

an economics major so i love looking at

trends and identifying patterns and i

love doing that in football specifically

so looking at a club structure and how

they play and how they use particular

players to score goals increase the

probability of scoring goals in terms of

technology allows a person like me all

the way from the other side of the world

to gain access to this data and allows

more than 20 000 people so technology

hasn't just changed the way that stats

are used in the game but it also means

that fans now have the ability to host

their own shows and videos

and i've come to paris to see one in

action

i think we've found the man himself

remain paul the psg remain bonjour

hello nice to meet you welcome home you

look busy there tell us what you're

doing yes i'm just making an update

about the news about psg to my youtube

channel followers

i don't feel any pressure i just want to

give my opinion on the internet

and

with the time i get lucky twelve

thousand thousand and all around us

those numbers but i'm just feel very

lucky and every day i want to take

pleasure because

it's my passion

it's much time let's go

[Music]

it's having big one nil down for the

majority of the game psg have just been

given a penalty let's see what the main

man has to say

we need to check

and embark

on you

[Applause]

well what a game that was then plenty of

talking points psg have turned it around

as well this man is very happy indeed

he's just speaking to his fans there how

delighted are they gonna be at home yes

i think they are like us very happy

because this match was good and the

scenario was perfect come on paris

they're certainly a passionate lot

aren't they right we'll finish today

with the social fantoni hassan now tony

supports tottenham but bringing families

together is the main reason behind his

love for the game so i actually

remodeled my soccer school into

coaching parents and children together

and

to build relationships and to make them

you know do things in the community with

football something in common but it's

something that it doesn't matter what

team you support

it brings everybody together

for the love of football so there you

have it then the different types of

supporters summarized in just under six

minutes but which one are you do let us

know using the hashtag footballnowfans

and we'll see you next time for more

football now
