Why WWE Just Perfected Sports Entertainment

that's right perfected Sports

entertainments oh shut it all down

although don't do that because I'm

having a great time because for years

WWE and Vince McMahon have been shouting

about sports entertainment and sure

there are a lot of times where you're

all like well I tell you my sport was

just entertained but in somewhat of

ironic twist Triple H just took over and

yeah as the title says WWE may just have

perfected Sports entertainment why

here's why

so right away we should take note that

the term Sports entertainment has

actually been around for quite a while I

think Vince McMahon first dropped it

back in 1989 when he was talking to the

New Jersey commission and say look you

don't need to make us pay all this extra

money because we're a sport because

we're not a sport we're

Sports entertainment so we are coming on

30 years but as far as I'm concerned it

really came onto its own when WWE took

the company public and then did so again

after they said goodbye TV 14 we're

going to become tvpg and the reason they

did all of this is because they wanted

more sponsorships they wanted more

licenses and they just wanted a big bag

of cash I mean basically McMahon thought

it sounded much more friendlier than the

smoke-filled bars that many people

Associated pro wrestling with now all

you have to do is go back to many a

promotion from a yesteryear and see them

taking place in massive Arenas but hey

stereotype as a stereotype sometimes you

can't get away from it I mean World

castle Jim Crockett would be able to do

this within seconds and then of course

as soon as you get one buzzword you get

a bunch of buzzwords much like the

longest running episodic television show

in history which just makes your brain

calm down although I will be totally

honest with you I never really minded

Sports attainment and when it came to

Superstar I actually think that one's

pretty good I mean the law of averages

States you're probably going to find at

least one which is okay before along

those Sports entertainment was just a

way to describe WWE content if you get

something with some story or you get

something that's a little bit silly or

it's a little bit goofy you could just

bring it out do I love goofy wrestling

more than anyone but I do have to say

that lumping it all together seems

massively unfair this wrestling is going

to be wrestling but surely Sports

entertainment was just a way to tell you

were you gonna get some wrestling you're

going to get some storytelling and

you're going to get some athleticism and

as far as we are concerned we are going

to do that better within the medium than

anybody else it also means that you just

suspend your disbelief and you buy into

a bunch of outside factors and you get

on the roller coaster and just have a

good time you enjoy the ride now I know

with the rise of the internet there is a

very different way to enjoy all of this

stuff but as long as you're getting a

kick out of it and being nice I don't

care so with all that in mind let's get

back to the Royal Rumble let's remember

what we saw with Kevin Owens and Sami

Zayn and remember how it made you feel

in your tum tum and remember what it did

to your eyes and the water that came out

of them so it was looking at you right

there and do not forget the WWE had so

much faith in this they ended the Royal

Rumble with an angle even though you had

two Royal Rumble matches and this

narrative usurped both of them I know a

bunch of fans who only come back for

this show they're happy to watch the

men's Rubble they're happy to watch the

women's Rumble see who gets thrown over

the top rope and everything else that

may go down on the premium live event is

just a little bit of something extra

it's an asterisk instead of overlying on

those matches though and don't forget

it's on the damn Marquee Triple H

decided to make a decision and he

decided to take a risk and take

everything with the bloodline and have

it take a massive step forward and you

ain't going to get an argument out of me

this was genius in terms of what we saw

as well it is kind of basic when you

break it all down Sami Zayn was done

with the manipulator gaslighter Roman

Reigns so he decided to take a chair and

smack him with it even though he was

aware what this meant for his face I

mean that is just surface level stuff

but when we got deeper forget about it

because you had Jay Uso storming off

because he couldn't handle this

emotionally anymore Kevin Owens was tied

up in the corner all dead and Sami Zayn

basically acted exactly how Seth Rollins

did when he turned on the shield and of

course who did Seth it on that fateful

day it was none other than Roman Reigns

so this guy is never going to trust

anybody again what it meant though is

that this whole story was layered to

such a degree if this was your first day

you could have found a way to get into

it but even if you've been watching for

the last year you were able to have a

smile on your face the crowd reaction

proved all of this ads is the reaction

on social media with once again some

people saying that they cried that

doesn't just happen it has to hit you in

the emotional Clan it all comes down to

the fact that we cared about the

characters we wanted Sami to do this we

hope that Sammy would do this and now

we're genuinely intrigued to see what he

does next and that is the biggest

question hanging above our heads

espresso exactly the time we were like

oh no he's left sami's aid for dead and

everybody has just played their roles so

well they totally bought in and they

delivered each and every single week so

just to tie it back in this to me is

sports entertainment or wrestling pick

whichever word you want the only reason

there is a little bit of a Twist to it

is because all of this did actually

overshadow the wrestling itself which is

kind of ironic there's so many different

parts to it though because you have to

have the two years of Roman Reigns

dominating you have to have Kevin Owens

giving every single thing he had within

his body and you have to have Sammy just

being the most lovable baby face you

could imagine obviously the wrestling

bits have been used here but in terms of

this one big moment it actually was

playing second fiddle so the sports

entertainment then as the title suggests

it was Sports entertainment done right

and yes it is a shame that WWE probably

won't see it through and do Roman Reigns

versus Sami Zayn a WrestleMania which is

where the story should go but let's not

forget what plan B is super over and

happy dappy baby face Cody Rhodes could

be the guy to define the tribal Chief I

mean when we're talking about two

separate plans I really don't think we

should be getting mad about any of them

and do not forget the reason why Rhodes

is doing this as well he left in 2016

because the company didn't see him as a

main eventer and now he is coming back

to main event the biggest show maybe WWE

has ever done and he wants to win the

One World Championship his family never

did I mean I want to repeat myself

Sports entertainment and we actually

have even more here too because there is

an elimination chamber pay-per-view on

the horizon it's happening in Montreal

this is ridiculous because who comes

from there Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and

I don't want to repeat myself yet again

but look what happens when you put in

the thoughts and you put in the time all

of this is Sublime when people do start

in DJ yelling this is the best thing WWE

has done in years I totally agree with

them but actually all we're doing is

using the traditions and Staples that

World Wrestling Entertainment have been

using for years we just remembered that

one patience is a virtue and two

building characters should come above

everything else in We Care eventually

this tale of course will be over too but

hopefully then we can ride the wave to

the next one and all WWE really needs to

do is continue to rely on this template

and of course we can sit here and debate

what was it actually better than The

Mega Powers was it better than

everything we did with CM Punk was it

better than anything we did with Austin

and of course it's a fun conversation to

have but ultimately you can put Ticks by

all of those which means we are fans are

probably having a good old time what

actually matters to me is that it does

feel like WWE has returned to the gold

that made them the biggest wrestling

promotion in the first but it's I'm just

enjoying it to such a degree it makes me

happy and it makes me sad and it makes

me second guess what the hell is going

to happen and it makes me dream imagine

Jay Uso does come back and actually help

Sami Zayn that's not what's going to

happen What probably will happen is it

will be Sami Zayn versus Roman Reigns in

Montreal that's when Jay will show his

face and he will screw over Sam but then

it will be all right because we'll get

to WrestleMania and KO and Zayn will

finally win the WWE Tag Team titles and

maybe Cody wins the WWE World title as

well then that's it I'm gonna have to

lay down for a while satisfaction

overload so it is just a constant Joy

all around and sports entertainment

perfection
