I think so Mac that sounds very familiar
Insidious opened with a 32 million
dollar Jesus Insidious opened with 32
mil with a 16 million dollar budget yet
I don't know why more people or more
companies don't do this
I've said this before and I'm going to
say it again
very [ __ ] rarely do horror movies
financially flop
house has it down to a science even
their stinkiest piles of garbage
turn a profit because it's like three
million dollar budget and then even if
it only makes 6 million in the box
office which it will because people love
going to horror films they double
they [ __ ] double it
of course it doesn't account for
marketing but the beauty of horror films
is they Market themselves and then
blumhouse doesn't even bother marketing
half of them anyway it's just I don't
know why more Studios haven't just
banked hard on [ __ ] shitty throwaway
horror films it's an infinite money
glitch in the cinema I don't get it in
fact Colin I'm curious I want to go
through every single one of blumhouses
well not every single one but like the
most recent blumhouse horror films to
see if any of them lost money because I
don't think they have and I can't
believe they're the only ones that have
recognized this glitch
it's so weird that more people aren't
doing it so here the one right before
Insidious was called unseen I've never
[ __ ] heard of this
and there's no information here that's
huge that's huge
also it looks like it was direct to
streaming so maybe this is probably a
bad example
hold on
here there are there other one there's
something wrong with the children I've
never heard of this
oh God why do they not have the
information here anymore
oh did this not this didn't go to
theaters either Jesus
what
oh he even says right here released
digitally son of a [ __ ] hold on
okay here's another one sick did this
one go to theaters
oh my God right to [ __ ] streaming
again oh my Lord
oh Megan okay here easy example very
good example too 12 million dollar
budget 180 million dollar box office
this was also their last theatrical
release movie as well I guess so
quick easy slam dunk example this is
half of blumhouse's catalog low budget
and this is high for Blum House by the
way most of theirs are sub 10 million
budgets and they just go crazy because
people love horror movies
it just puts asses in seats
and this movie really wasn't bad this
isn't even an example of like a shitty
horror movie they make this is a fine
film
but the point is it's cheap and they go
crazy in the box office and meanwhile
every other brain dead [ __ ] Studio
from these absolute soulless husks in
the executive headquarters are always
just pouring 300 million into Indiana
Jones 5 in order to deconstruct the
character to try and get people to go
watch it and then are shocked when they
lose 500 million dollars on it it's like
what are you not understanding you don't
need to keep dumping this kind of crazy
amount of money into revitalizing and
like like [ __ ] the corpse of beloved
characters in order to try and make a
profit in the box office lower budget
more creative projects
do so much more for you so much more
I don't understand it I don't understand
what they're not like what they're not
seeing here
blumhouse is they crush it and again
half of their movies are just bad just
actually trash but they turn a profit
because they're cheap and people like
horror films
now imagine if you just did cheaper
movies that are creative
me and my supervisors were talking about
this last night actually instead of
making a 200 million dollar movie just
make 20 10 million dollar movies
exactly [ __ ] exactly
what was before Megan what was their
other and most recent theatrical release
Here Halloween ends okay this is a bit
of a worse example because this is a
beloved franchise and it's a bigger
budget yeah 33 mil that's a little out
of the norm for Blum House but still 105
million dollar meanwhile if any big
Studio big budget title did 105 million
dollars in the box office it would be
considered one of the biggest flops of
the 21st century the [ __ ] flash I
believe is now the biggest Financial
flop in all of Cinema and that still did
like 250 mil in the box office
Halloween ends was actually bad this
movie is [ __ ] atrocious yeah it's
horrible but what I was saying is this
is a higher budget than most blumhouse
movies
they're usually making things for sub 10
mil
usually
looks like the one before this was the
black phone this is 16 to 18 million
dollar budget with a 161 million dollar
box office I mean the proof is [ __ ]
in the pudding this was the theatrical
film right before Halloween ends it
seems
they do so much direct to streaming
content Jesus
that's like half of their recent catalog
you get one good actor and they got it
you legitimately don't even need a good
actor
at least not not for a horror film
people will just see it regardless
because horror films are fun
and everything here is just direct to
streaming
they even did a new Paranormal Activity
movie called Next of Kin which went
direct to streaming they must have a
deal with Paramount plus because all of
this [ __ ] just goes right to Paramount
Plus
well here's a movie I've never even
[ __ ] heard of before
and it looks like it's a new or one of
their new their newest Purge movie The
forever Purge
18 million dollar budget 77 million
dollar box office in 2021
during pandemic still
actually said Wolfie cutie bits in the
prime majora
it was bad yeah the last like two Purge
movies I saw were horrible
doesn't matter made 50 mil that's right
again it's just so clear
what like the winning formula is for a
sustainable model of movie making
blumhouse has got it figured out
low budget titles mainly horror because
people are going to see horror as like a
date night option or just like generally
something to kick back and have fun with
or you put money into something low
budget and creative like 824 a24 does
great in the box office and they do like
artsy films
like 824 also for the most part knows
extremely well in the box office
like everything everywhere all at once
this [ __ ] movie 14 million dollar
budget 141 million dollar box office
like they do like that is the formula
and I just don't know why we're not
seeing more of it
games have the same issue extreme budget
bloat for trash yeah because they like
they think it's safe
they think that's the safer play and
it's just not
thanks very sub-edium it's just [ __ ]
not
I don't like everything a24 puts out but
I do always respect it at the very least
and I do like a lot of their movies
I still haven't seen Bose afraid though
I haven't really heard anything about
Bose afraid was it any good
let me see how that one did in the box
office
oh they have a Steph Curry movie coming
out who what
hey let's see how Bo is afraid did
unlucky
eek okay that one did not hit for them
and this was when they put a lot of
budget in
as they resub doobie and the prime sweet
cheeks
movies made for movie snobs that like to
sniff their own farts disagreed I think
that's some of a24's movies
like I still think mother was horrible
but I don't think it's all of them
like I do think some of the stuff they
make is pretentious just for the sake of
being pretentious but it's not all of
their films
not long ago was Mother I'm curious how
that did in the box office now
holy [ __ ] wait was that not 8 24
oh my God that was an a24 wait who made
this
oh this is what
oh my God I thought that was a24 all
these years no this was Paramount
this [ __ ] sucked it felt like an a24
movie
it did find the box office I guess
the Green Knight was trash I like the
Green Knight
and I like the whale a lot
the whale was incredible and this is a
[ __ ] amazing example the whale three
million dollar budget 54 million dollar
box office
easy
easy
meanwhile 54 million for anything else
would be a tragedy you'd be fired on the
spot Hollywood would have you executed
for performance like that
a24 also made Northman right
um I don't know
I'm not sure
they make a lot though a lot more than I
thought they made X too I didn't know
that was a24
but I mean here look even this
one million dollar budget 15 million
dollar box office that's a [ __ ] huge
success
cheap
barely any marketing but let's say they
did like three million dollars worth of
marketing still 5xed
didn't even need to do like amazing 15
million
huge in the green
goddamn
oh they did uncut gyms that's right
this is one of their bigger ones 19 mil
and 50 mil still very successful but
this is one of their bigger titles
for budget
a24 did the SpongeBob movie right yeah
I'm sure they did the SpongeBob movie
yeah that was probably them
