Yes, you read that correctly. In the near future, you may be able to purchase a robotic arm that can cook your meals for you.
This technology is still in its infancy, but the potential applications are staggering.
For example, imagine you're a busy professional who doesn't have time to cook dinner every night. With a robotic chef in your kitchen, you could come home to a hot meal that's already been prepared for you.
Or, let's say you're hosting a dinner party and you want to impress your guests with your culinary skills. A robotic chef can help you do just that.
There are a few companies that are already working on this technology. One of them is Moley Robotics, which has created a fully functioning robot chef that can cook anything from a simple omelet to a complicated seafood dish.
The robot chef is equipped with two robotic arms, which are controlled by a motion-capture system. This allows the robot to mimic the movements of a human chef.
The robot also has access to a library of recipes, so it can cook just about anything you want it to.
So far, Moley Robotics has only built one prototype of its robot chef. However, the company plans to release a consumer version in the next few years.
Another company that's working on this technology is Spyce. Spyce is developing a kitchen appliance that can cook meals using pre-programmed recipes.
The appliance will also be able to adjust the cooking time and temperature based on the ingredients that you use.
Spyce is still in the early stages of development, but the company plans to release a prototype of its appliance in 2019.
So, there you have it. Robot chefs are coming to a kitchen near you. This technology is still in its infancy, but the potential applications are staggering.
