[MUSIC PLAYING]

I'm super excited to see your house.

I'm super excited that you're pregnant.

Congratulations. Thank you.

Congratulations to you, too. Thanks.

Yeah.

Do you feel surrounded by pregnant women?

Like, is there a lot of belly in the room?

Yes.

[LAUGHING]

The thing that you called me for initially

was the kitchen, right?

Yes.

What have you tried to do yourself?

We changed out the garbage disposal.

Our garbage disposal backs up and sometimes will shoot

up into almost like a volcano.

I have to see this garbage disposal.

[GARBAGE DISPOSAL GRINDING]

Oh.

What?

This sink might explode at any minute.

This is a mess.

OK.

All right.

All right.

Like, the size is really cozy, but,

like, this doesn't feel like a room that's ready for a baby.

No.

Just to be perfectly honest, right?

No, it's definitely not baby ready yet.

So the electrical sockets stick out, and some of them move.

We had stuff plugged in, and it blew

the entire circuit breaker.

That is dangerous.

Like, really dangerous.

Yeah.

Like, a do it yourself no-no.

Yeah.

This nursery gives me anxiety.

There's also a random hole in the corner.

Literally, baby could reach in there and touch live electrical

and pull it right out of the wall.

Yes. Yeah.

Ah!

I don't like this at all.

I see why you guys need some help

in here, though, because this is-- this is a lot.

We have a budget of $70,000.

And I think, like, half of that's

going to go towards just this kitchen.

So the pantry, the half wall, the range, the cabinets

above it, the hood, it's all got to go so we

can have room for an island.

They're going to have a lot of baby stuff,

so we need somewhere to put it.

That's going to allow us to run new cabinetry in an L-shape.

And instead of just having one point of entry,

now it's going to have that flow.

I'll move the range to here.

I'll put the fridge all the way at the end.

And let's leave the sink where it is because it'd be really

expensive to have to move all that plumbing,

plus I like it by the window.

I like that. Yeah?

That's going to be cool.

Maybe there's a way to add, like, some pantry slash--

I don't know, like, brooms and that kind of stuff

in between the stuff.

Like recess. Yeah.

OK.

Jess and Rich have $70,000 to spend on all

the things we have to do.

It sounds like a lot of money, but it's really not.

I mean, this house needs a ton of work.

That said, I'm going to stretch it as far as I can.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

[SAW WHIRRING]

In the kitchen, we've got plumbing going on.

New electrical is going in.

It's just great.

We discovered that the plumbing line

coming from the garbage disposal was completely blocked.

So we called the plumber, and I'm

just really hoping it's not as big of an issue

as we think it is.

And now I'm concerned.

I don't know if I'm going to be able to get

this project finished and get them back into the house

before their baby is born.

This plumbing issue is huge.

I mean, Rich would have never known that his pipes

were completely corroded.

It would have gone undetected had they not called me.

Put the electrical here.

We get paid extra for the fit?

Brian added a few things.

This right here is going to be a bad ass baby cabinet.

Enter the secret side panel storage.

All the baby bottles right here.

Are you going to hang them upside down like wine glasses?

[LAUGHING]

We got to to get this kitchen finished

because the baby is on the way.

[SAW WHIRRING]

[MUSIC PLAYING]

The countertops that were here before

were basically cardboard.

So these new countertops coming in, they're quartz.

They're durable.

They're not going to stain.

I mean, they're perfect for a family, especially one

that's about to have a baby.

This kitchen before was a DIY nightmare

that overwhelmed Jess and Rich.

Oh, my god.

Ah!

It's so bad.

I don't want to cook in this kitchen or do dishes in it

anymore.

Now it's safe.

There's two points of entry, which

makes it feel so much bigger.

Unobstructed sight lines from the kitchen to the dining room

banquette.

The niche shelves are in, which creates more storage.

The nice thing about these doors is they've got these,

like, easy close door hinges.

And they're going to just kind of disappear into the wall,

but provide a ton of extra storage that's kind of hidden.

You know I like secret storage.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Appliances are here.

And they're going in.

They're new.

They're shiny.

They're just so much better than what was here before.

The old fridge didn't even have handles on it.

I mean, anything would have been a step up.

I like to use the fridge at the end of a run of cabinetry

so it kind of anchors the kitchen.

Dishwasher right next to the sink,

and they're not competing with each other.

If I need something out of the pantry,

we have very limited space.

This is a much better layout.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

It's probably not something that people think about,

but it's pretty easy to change a closet into an alcove.

And adding baskets to kind of collect things,

it gives you way more options for storage.

So between all these things, we've

now created a space in this room that wasn't here before.

Cute.

Walking into this nursery with Jess

and having her feel so overwhelmed,

I was right there with her.

I mean, the nursery itself, the design of it,

it's not for the baby.

It's all about the parents.

And if the parents are calm, and the parents are relaxed,

and the parents have somewhere that every time

they walk into they're like, ah, that's going to help.

So I think that's the least I could do

is give Jess and Rich that place.

And I think this room is that place.

In the dining room, this room was basically

wall-to-wall furniture before.

And it was dark, and it was heavy,

and it felt like a lot of hand-me-downs.

Now it has a purpose.

It's hidden.

Put some pillows in front of it.

Never even know it's there.

Not only is this kitchen beautiful, but it's going

to bring their family together.

They can cook together, have their baby in there with them,

entertain.

I mean, this is a family kitchen.

The good thing is Jess and Rich haven't had their baby yet.

I was on, like, a legit timeline for this project.

And the fact that the house is done

and the baby isn't born yet, I think that's a win.

They're going to absolutely freak out

when they see their new house.

Storage galore.

Cute.

When I first met you, the word of the day was overwhelmed.

If you'd had told us, you know, 9 and 1/2 months ago

that she was going to be pregnant,

we were getting the house remodeled, I'd say,

you're crazy.

Yeah.

No way.

But here we are.

It's going be a big change.

So is this.

Yeah, it's a lot of change all in a very

short period of change.

You guys ready to see?

Yes, I think so.

Yeah, I am.

I'm excited.

I'm going to stay out here-- OK.

--and let you all take it in.

And then I'll come find you in a few minutes.

You can have the honors.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Oh, my god.

My goodness.

Whoa.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Oh.

Wow, this is amazing.

They got our-- they got our maternity photos.

I know.

Let's go look.

Let's go look.

It's so much lighter in here.

It feels like we're at the beach almost.

Yeah.

I know it's brand new in there.

And I'm sure it feels really different,

but I just hope it feels like home.

Oh, my god.

The kitchen.

Wow.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Oh, my god.

This is our kitchen.

This is our kitchen.

Aw.

Oh.

I can't believe this is our house.

This is insane.

Oh, my gosh.

Look at this.

Wow.

What do you guys think?

It looks amazing.

Thank you so much.

You're welcome.

Thank you.

It's-- I told you she was going to cry.

You're going to make me cry.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

I love the color of the island and how it's

different than the cabinets.

We needed to fix a big structural element

of your house.

The beam was really sagging, so we added this wall.

It was actually the most cost effective way

to make this work.

Normally, I don't, like, add walls,

but I think it made a lot of sense in this case

because what it does is it gives it purpose.

And that is this is the dining room.

It does.

You guys want to go see the nursery?

Yes. Yeah.

Yeah? Let's go.

All right, let's go.

Oh, my god.

Oh, wow.

Oh, my god.

This is crazy.

I love it.

It's beautiful.

Wow.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

[CRYING]

Aw.

I know.

It's OK.

Aw, I feel like it just got really real.

Aw.

Aw.
