Film brings flavour to our everyday lives.

Just imagine a world without movies would

be like eating French fries without salt, like the ice cream man gave you a double

scoop, except one is celery flavored and the other is just plain shaved ice.

Entertainment would consist of sitting down and watching grass grow or paint dry.

In a word, it would be boring, mundane and monotonous.

We're thankful that movies bring a little happiness and sunshine into our lives.

So out of all the movies ever made,

which flicks find themselves in the pop culture Hall of Fame.

Hey, guys, welcome back to Brainstorm Vids

as we bring you the top 10 pop culture movies.

But first things first.

Smash that subscribe button and ring that

notification bell to be a part of the channel.

OK. Now, where were we?

So what is pop culture?

Well, simply put, it's how cultural products such as music,

art and film are interacted with by the majority of society at a particular time.

Of course, there's a huge element of nostalgia to pop culture films.

When you watch the movies that you loved

as a kid in the present day, you aren't enjoying them for what they are.

You're enjoying them for the memories they bring back from when you were younger.

That's what makes narrowing down a list so difficult.

One person's Schindler's List is another person's Sharknado 7.

So let's get to it.

Brainstorm Vids presents the unofficial top 10 pop culture movies.

Number 10, Kill Bill 1 and 2.

Tarantino's take on the femme fatale.

We get the distinct feeling that the wacky

method director runs out of ways to shock the audience and constantly tries

and tries again to produce scenes that blow our minds.

This is a two part revenge story about empowerment, taking control of your

destiny and slicing people up with a Hattori Hanzo sword. Epic.

It boasts an all star cast of equally stunning and ferocious ladies.

It has the feel of an old school karate

movie, and it's probably equally liked for its large scale,

crazily long swordfights than it is for its out of this world storyline.

Ten minutes of continuous action scenes are never boring.

It's the ultimate homage to the big grade

movie, except executed with a flair and precision of a Hollywood blockbuster.

Number nine, back to the Future franchise.

One of the best scripts ever written for a movie, period.

It has time travel.

A hoverboard, a musical number, literally something for the whole family to enjoy.

Not once across the entire trilogy is the relationship between a high school

slacker and a crazy mad professor ever explained

They're just the odd couple.

Great friends and the leading pair make the movie what it is.

We do admit that the story goes a little sideways at times.

But hey, it was a different time back then.

And we take the humor for what it is just humor.

The scenes for the first film unknowingly set up plot twists for the subsequent two

movies, blowing the audience minds with a huge feeling of.

Oh, yeah. That's right.

He did that in the last one,

although the time travel science is not really 100 percent on point.

The message is still very clear.

It's a lesson proving that there are dire consequences for playing with time.

Number eight, James Bond 007 franchise.

While there have been many actors

who played Bond, his choice in Martini has not changed.

Six parts vodka, one part vermouth with a slice of lemon peel shaken, not stirred.

Every movie in the franchise is a classic

merging sophisticated plotlines with outstanding action scenes and stunt work.

There's something otherworldly about James Bond as a secret agent with MI6

He is in his element mingling with a who's

who of Upper-Class Society, as well as when he's fighting hand to hand

with a bunch of bad guys or blasting his way out of a shootout.

Bond is as famous for his sports cars

and gorgeous love interests as he is for his espionage.

The ultimate gentleman spy who saves

the day, gets the girl and eventually breaks her heart.

Putting King and Country Before Love Number seven, the Star Trek franchise.

After nine different TV shows and 13

movies, it's safe to say that the Star Trek franchise is deeply

ingrained in pop culture, vowing to boldly go where no man has gone before.

It's widely regarded as the single biggest influence in science fiction.

When you think about it, the franchise is most loved because it

lends hope, wonder and imagination to concepts in real outer space

by showing us what's possible from the creation of the creative mind.

It's prompted entire generations to ask the big question what if and dare to dream

about the possibilities of travel and even colonization of the galaxy?

There have been a few captains, each with their own quirks.

Captain Kirk, for his noble and stubborn attitude, putting his life and the lives

of his crew on the line to do what's right.

Then there's Captain Picard, a more reserved man looking to diplomacy,

reason and cunning to get the desired outcome.

But the one constant is the stoic glue that holds the crew together.

Dr. Spock, the second in command whose sense

of humor is as dry as the deserts of planet Klingon, live long and prosper.

Number six, Superman.

This DC superhero has been adapted

to the big screen many times, with some reboots more successful than others.

There is no doubt, though, that Clark Kent embodies what it's meant to be human.

Ironic, given that he's an all powerful being from the planet Krypton.

The character gives hope to the regular person.

After all, at heart, Superman is just a humble guy

from the city of Kansas trying to make it in the big city.

The fact that Superman has these powers and doesn't use them for evil is supposed

to mirror the human spirit to do what is right, not what is easy.

Number five, Titanic,

a classic tale of love and following your heart or a tale of how to take up all

the room and a floating door for to you be the judge.

This movie was always going to be a hit

with an all star cast in the magic of James Cameron at the helm.

Not to mention the biggest budget spent on a movie at that point in time.

Love knows no boundaries.

The movie isn't so much about the story

of the tragic real life sinking of a ship where over fifteen hundred people died.

It's a love story,

a wrong side of the tracks tale where a poor lovestruck boy can fall in love

with a girl who is trapped by the rigid boundaries of the upper class.

Every person alive is recreated the famous

scene at the front of the bow of the Titanic at least once in their life.

I'm flying, Jack.

The movie has it all, including some tear jerking moments,

especially when Rose drops her locket in the ocean as an old woman.

A sign that she's never forgotten her first love.

A true classic.

Number four: Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

The American Dream.

Enjoying Life to the fullest and a day off

with your best friend and the prettiest girl in class while getting away

with absolutely everything with no consequences.

When you break it down, the principal isn't really the bad guy.

He's just doing his job. But as an audience,

we all cheer when Ferris outsmarts him again and again,

a coming of age tale and one most memorable for singing Twist and Shout

from the back of a float in a German Pride Parade classic.

This film taught an entire generation that running a car in reverse does not win

back the odometer and that you only live once.

So make the most of it.

Number three, diehard.

Everyone's favorite Christmas movie.

And one that shows us that a tired, burnt out cop can take down a building

full of bad guys muttering wisecracks the entire way.

It's the quintessential American action movie.

And despite many trying, nothing can compare to the original.

And that tagline, Yippee Ki Yay

at the time it was released, movie villains were slapstick morons.

It was easy to believe the good guy would win.

And it made films predictable and boring.

Diehard broke that mold and changed how the villain is portrayed forever.

Smart, cunning, intelligent, well-spoken and vaguely European.

A deadly mastermind who puts great thought into his crime.

Bizarrely, at no point in the film do you

question how one man takes down an entire private army.

You just go along with it.

Number two, Matrix trilogy.

The Wachowski brothers are incredible directors.

Some films succeed for their acting.

Others for their story.

This franchise was so engaging

and challenged the perception of an entire generation.

By bringing everything together so completely that you're left walking away

from the cinema thinking, is this real life?

Or am I in a VR pod filled with pink jello being harvested for static electricity.

Everyone knows what taking the red or blue pill means.

It's an amazing concept,

a conscious choice to go back to being oblivious or to explore the meaning

of your own life and realizing your potential.

A spectacular concept that needed an equally as engaging movie to match full

of groundbreaking special effects and stunt work.

Much of the technology had to be developed for the movie.

It simply didn't exist at the time.

Whole rooms full of computers, server racks were needed just to render

the special effects a classic that forced us to challenge

whether we believe the reality we perceive around us.

Honorable mentions.

There were some movies that just couldn't make the list.

So we'll give them a shout out to let them

know they're loved and to avoid fan backlash in our Channel Comments section.

The Godfather trilogy.

Yeah, we know all time classics,

but we just couldn't make them an offer they can't refuse.

The Harry Potter series.

We love a magical world as much as the next person.

But we couldn't see it competing with any on our list.

The Lord of the Rings trilogies, we love a good journey.

But Master... no!

The Star Wars series, the original movies were great, but it got worse from there.

We're leaving them off the list because we're still angry about the last Jedi.

And now for our topic number one, Scarface.

Say hello to my little friend,

will forever mean something different after seeing Scarface.

The wild thing about this movie is that it's based on a real person.

Mario Tabraue

The real life kingpin reflects the movie in that he did smuggle contraband into the US from Cuba

and did take the money to the bank in duffle bags.

He has confessed that dealing with the undercover ATF agent in that gruesome bathroom scene

actually did happen.

Only they used a circular saw, not a chainsaw.

That's cold!

The overarching premisse of the movie is that you can choose to change your own luck.

That crime does pay, but nothing that good lasts forever.

And there are dire consequences for living a life of greed, excess and openly flaunting the law.

Tony Montana's monologue about the world needing a bad guy

is one that still makes sense decades later.

Echoing the traps of materialistic desires.

That's our list done for today.

Taking a trip down memory lane to some of the movies you love best.
