Wagner’s brief rebellion against the Russian army has put further spotlight on the mercenary group, whose profile grew dramatically amid the Ukraine war. Wagner gained global attention with the longest and bloodiest battle of war in Ukraine’s Bakhmut, and its feud with the Russian military brass.
As PMC Wagner’s military exploits become well known, many wonder where the mercenary group gets its money and resources from.
Analysts say the group’s owner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has amassed power and earned hundreds of millions of dollars by securing Russian govt contracts. The Russian mercenary group is also known to have gained from overseas conflicts and unstable regimes in African nations.
