IPTV service has a major increase - Watch out for this one

so it was just last week I kind of uh

alluded to how ridiculous the pricing is

getting with IPTV right we see uh just

to get you know maybe all of the NHL or

the NBA Playoffs we have to go to five

ten different sources right it's it's

crazy you have to purchase multiple

different subscriptions and this

obviously leads to more piracy which is

you know purchasing the third party ones

whatever we want to consider it

um so today we're going to be talking

sort of on that topic and a little bit

of hypocrisy that that happens with the

pricing model in IPTV and also breaking

down one of the most ridiculous price

increases I think we've seen out of a

service

um and you're probably not gonna be able

to guess what service it is but you'll

so let's get into talking about uh this

service that has uh done a little bit of

a ridiculous price increase so if you

guys have never heard of it uh design

Zone let's just call it the Zone uh it

it was kind of introduced back in I

think it was 2016 as an affordable uh

price to pay-per-view right so they

wanted to introduce pay-per-view but at

a monthly charge right instead of paying

a hundred dollars for one event you

might pay ten dollars a month for a year

and you're getting a ton of different

events so just a totally different model

but it was supposed to be an affordable

option that was going to help fight

piracy so we'll talk about the hypocrisy

in a second so uh you know since then

they've actually been fairly successful

in multiple different countries

continuing to expand it's in Canada now

um Japan Austria all these different

places Switzerland uh it was pretty big

in the U.S from what I remember so they

have all these different ways of you

know now watching pay-per-view instead

of having to get IPTV right so basically

just an alternative so this cheap

pricing led to them obviously having

some you know negative years they've

been losing money which is not abnormal

for subscription-based businesses right

Netflix lost money for years and years

and years until they were successful now

before we talk about what the Zone did

which I think is kind of a little

hypocritical let's talk about the price

increase because the zone is actually

seeing one of the biggest price

increases I think we've ever seen for a

streaming service

so right here it looks like their new

discounted rate and I believe this is in

the U.S has gone from 99 a year that's

right from 99 a year to 150 a year on

their annual deal to all the way up to

224.99 for their annual

now is this going to see a boost in

content I would think so but they have

boosted it so much 250 almost a year for

the Zone The Zone

okay uh now they have monthly options

which is either 19.99 a month if you're

locked in for a year or 24.99 just on

there floating monthly which if you do

the math is obviously closer to 300 for

the year if you keep it on that I think

it's like what 275 so it's fairly

expensive so the Zone has on this

massive price increase but the funny

part is is this this uh app this company

that was apparently

Pro uh you know Pro cheap prices and pro

trying to get it at the most affordable

option for the consumer uh has joined

the uh anti-piracy group Ace and Bane

Sports and all those groups

um and joined their piracy task force

so instead of being uh and you know what

the funny part is is this is a calming

tactic a lot of companies use

is they do the oh we're here for the

consumer we want the consumer to get the

best cheapest product possible and to

use that as a model of growth right so

they're going to use that bit a bit of a

cheap price or maybe giving it just over

cost in order to expand their reach

expand their subscribers in the hope

that when they do raise their prices uh

it's not going to hurt them as much so

this is 100 a business decision you know

they have over 20 million subscribers

right now my guess is they're going to

lose a good chunk of those because most

people aren't okay with a a double price

increase but on top of that like I said

they are also now partnering in order to

help fight piracy so they're gonna join

uh Ace and Bane in order to push their

anti-ip TV piracy Group which is going

to help open up a new division so

basically all of these companies pay

into uh most likely for the lawyers up

like a membership fee would be my guess

now what the membership fee is

I don't know I guess it's multi-millions

because the whole thinking is here well

if we push and we do everything we can

to Lobby in order to make it more

illegal in places and punish people more

than us as a basically a cabal I I don't

know if I want to I don't know if that's

the right word in this case but all

these IPTV streaming companies kind of

come together and they pick their own

prices right they're like you know what

we're we're all we're offering different

stuff so let's go ahead and just price

match each other and just make this

Market expensive because we know

everybody's gonna have to come to us

um so yeah it's a it's it's a greasy

move and uh you know these companies

love to talk about piracy but hate to

talk about uh their their pockets ever

uh hurting at all if they offer a

discounted price or something people can

actually afford but that's really
