To sum up my video in one sentence: This superbox S1 Pro works well; surprisingly well in fact, but the legality of the apps required to view live TV and video on demand are questionably legal at best.

The hardware itself is nothing special and something that could be purchased for a much cheaper price on Amazon (http://amzn.to/3bq7HvY - affiliate link). The main thing that sets this apart is that it comes with the apps Blue TV and Blue VOD. The apps are NOT pre-installed (making the device itself not illegal) but to use live TV and video on demand you will need to install these apps. When I lived in China I saw many apps like these. The truth is, I was a bit surprised by how well they work but yeah.... probably not entirely legal.

superbox
so is this thing even for real
is it legal and why is it
more expensive than other android box
things that's what we're going to talk
about in today's video
so superbox sent this to me asking me if
i wanted to do a review on it
i've had other people in the past asked
me if i wanted to review android boxes
and i've used a few of them and honestly
i'm not really impressed with them
but this one intrigued me because of the
claim for
free live tv and free video on demand
so the real question is does it work and
yes it actually does this works it has
free live tv free video on demand
we'll talk about the legality of this
just here in a bit
so one thing i do want to talk about the
specs on this thing they're not
really that impressive but the overall
performance of this so far has worked
fairly well it's been
fairly responsive with the remote so
it's not
been too sluggish or horrible so this is
an android box and all of the android
features work as expected this even has
root which is really cool i don't really
want to talk about the features of this
box so i want to kind of get down to the
nitty
gritty which is the live tv and the
video on demand live tv it absolutely
works
and the navigation ports actually pretty
good it's fairly intuitive
and it works in a straightforward way
and it works
really well one thing that i know a lot
of people would really like this for is
live sports
you can navigate through all of the live
sports
it even has a spanish and filipino tv
that's kind of random but also kind of
cool and this thing has more stations
than i could count i
just tried to scroll through all of them
i don't watch a lot of live tv so i
don't know what any of these are but it
has so
many stations on this thing and actually
the video quality
coming from the live tv is really quite
good
so video on demand that also works
pretty well
it's more or less what you would expect
from other services
like amazon prime or netflix or
something like that
it it doesn't have that kind of polish
on it
and most likely you'll end up searching
for a video or tv shows and
kind of just hope it has it and it has
most of the popular things as for
quality
i've kind of seen hit and miss with
quality some quality is really good some
is not so great
also closed captioning some of the
movies have it
some don't some of the tv has it i don't
even know if it's possible to turn
off closed captioning i haven't found a
way but that's
that's kind of interesting so let's get
real for a minute
how is it even possible
for this to be legal with live tv it's
just a one-time fee
just paying for the hardware there's no
monthly subscription or anything
how is this legal so i actually reached
out to the rep
who asked me if i wanted to review this
i didn't get a real straightforward
answer if it was legal or not
i went to the website and it states this
watching
a stream of movies tv shows sporting
events won't violate
us copyright law superbox is just like
any other android tv box on the market
we cannot control what software
customers will use
so this is actually true the hardware
itself on this
is perfectly legal that is what they're
selling
the fact that they have this in effect
on their website
is definitely a red flag though and when
it comes down to it there's the blue tv
and blue video on demand these are the
two apps that let you watch live tv and
video on demand
and while if my memory searched
correctly they're not
actually installed on this box when you
get it
this is set up in a way that it's
basically very easy
to download and install those apps
and the reality is you don't get live tv
you don't get video on demand
without those apps so the the claim that
they have for
live tv and video on demand is only true
if you download those apps which
yeah are they legal
probably not so i'm not exactly sure
what's going on here but i kind of
suspect that the apps
may even have built-in vpn that routes
you to
servers in china or something
there's something going on
i will let you decide for yourself how
legal these apps are
or are not i do want to talk about the
price for this
a bit these uh are selling on amazon
for 300 to 400 and if you compare that
with other android boxes with similar
specs
i mean you're looking around fifty to a
hundred dollars so
what is the big price difference what do
you actually get
when you pay that extra money for one
thing i will
say they've run a lot of updates on this
so
you will get hardware that has more
regular software updates
which is a good thing uh i think really
the main thing though is
the blue bot and blue live
tv apps i've never seen these apps
before
i don't know how easy they are to get i
am not going to look at getting them
and installing them on other android
devices
but i suspect when you pay that extra
money
those apps are actually what you are
paying for
you're not going to get extra special
performance with the hardware on this
if you want just an android box you
could certainly get something with
better specs
for a much much lower price so honestly
this is kind of
an interesting concept i i must admit
i was actually quite impressed with the
live tv and the video on demand
as far as how well it worked
don't necessarily recommend using it but
overall this is as advertised
um with the the caveat that it's
probably not
really legal if you install those apps
that they advertise
so uh i'm curious what your thoughts are
on a box like this
if you would ever use something like
this yeah let me know in the comment
section below
i'll also have some links if you want to
purchase this or
or just look this up on the website and
get more details
so you can research for yourself thanks
