Published June 6, 2023, 12:20 a.m. by Courtney

We attempted to see four games of football over four consecutive days and over four different countries AND compared how much that cost us in comparison to one Premier League game. This is Danny and Matt's final stop of that journey!

hi we're nearly there me and Matt have

scoured across Europe for the last three

consecutive days with nowhere to sleep

hop in from city to city tried to watch

a different game of football in a

different country all for less than what

we spent going to one Premier League

game last season we're on the home

stretch the finish line is in sight the

so far has been one hell of a journey

going Elly's cold at night

our cameras are running out about true

need to find something to charge them so

I can't talk much but we are on our way

to our final destination we'll explain

more when we have batteries but for now

I think we need to go pro

for anyone wondering how we've been

cleaning ourselves during this trip so

we've arrived at our final destination

blown back to England we were desperate

to do four games over four days but

unfortunately if you wanted to do

another game in Europe it's just too

expensive because you're still gonna

have to get the flight back so we

thought we'll kill two birds with one

stone we'll fly back to England and

we'll try and find a game of football to

go to there's always football going on

in England you're definitely not going

to miss again so so this is where the

groundhopper app comes in handy once

more the handiest tool for a

groundhopper you can go on the homepage

here and you can click on nearby

fixtures and then you have a list of all

the fixtures going on today around you

and as you can see we've got a lot of

fixtures going on in and around London

and we were scrolling through this just

now checking what was on but we actually

saw that our hometown team altered

United are playing today so kill another

bird with another stone we're going to

go home and catch our final game in our

hometown budget football just as the

train arrives perfect time in blitz

football

[Music]

before we get into our final game let's

have one final bit of whiteboard history

on this journey Oxford United FC formed

in 1893 their ground the kasam stadium

is just a few short miles from the

hospital my mother presented me into

this world the Kassam stadium has the

distinct honor of only being a three

standard stadium the fourth is just a

fence which I'm sure makes for great

free viewing maybe we should have tried

that a relatively small side for much of

its history the club graced the Football

League for the first time in 1968 they

had their golden period in the mid 80s

winning back-to-back league titles in

1984 and 85 to win promotion from the

third tier of English football all the

way up to the top flight in their first

season in the top flight in 1986 the

team stepped out onto Wembley in front

of more than 90,000 fans including my

mum to play in the League Cup final

they beat QPR three nil to lift their

biggest piece of silverware to date and

the chance to play in the UEFA Cup

unfortunately this was one of the year's

English clubs were banned from European

Cup competitions as a result of

Liverpool's involvement in the riots

that took place in the 1985 European Cup

final over the following years Oxford

saw a sharp decline that eventually led

to them being relegated out of the

Football League to the fifth tier of

English football the team struggled to

find their feet for a few years but

bounced back in 2010 and have since

worked their way back up to the third

tier today they take on X Premier League

boys Charlton both teams are hopeful

with pushing for promotion this year so

it promises to be a tasty affair

disclaimer I'm not gonna lie I think I

might have fallen asleep at one point

during this game we were so tired so

let's just enjoy it peacefully and

quietly

one no Todd

there's a view cinema over there now I

wish we were sat over in that stand the

view would be a lot better

and that was all she wrote

in reality what was a very short journey

felt like a lifetime by the time we were

leaving the Kassam stadium with the

final kick of the ball comes our final

total so let's take a look at the

breakdown of everything we spent of

course in the first episode we ran

through exactly what we spent going to

the Premier League game last season

that's on the left-hand side and on the

right-hand side you can see how much we

spent between the turbos on this entire

journey but I want many we couldn't go

for less than the target but for just

under 80 pounds more between the two of

us we managed to see four games of

football and visit three countries I've

never even been to Asia experience has

its own merits but this is the one I'll

remember most it's been a wonderful

experiment thank you so much running on

the support there's a little mini series

leave a like and let us know if you'd

like us to do something similar to this

again and a big shout-out to

groundhopper for sponsoring the entire

series for any football goer

groundhopper it's the easiest and

handiest tool you can have at your

disposal download link is in the

description we have had a blast

next time though maybe we'll get an

Airbnb to sponsor us but until that time

I don't really have anything interesting

to end on who doesn't love football
