2023 has been a stacked year for movies
so far and it's been one hell of a weird
cinematic six months with filmmakers
letting their freak flag fly in the more
shockingly unexpected provocative and
downright WTF manner possible these 10
movies whether good or bad each served
up at least one jaw-droppingly bizarre
brutal or hilarious moment that now
lives rent free in the heads of
everybody who watched so let's dive in
as I'm Adam from what culture and here
are 10 biggest WTF movie moments of 2023
so far number 10. kirst mordoch Ant-Man
and the WASP quantumania Ant-Man and the
WASP Quantum Mania as a whole was just a
huge letdown but things got truly Freaky
Deaky when the much hyped villain
mordoch was revealed to be none other
than Darren cross AKA yellowjacket from
the first Ant-Man as it turns out he
survived his apparently fatal encounter
with Scott Lang in the original movie
his bodily proportions been warped when
his Yellow Jacket suit was sabotaged but
eventually been salvaged by Kang who
built him a new robotic suit the kicker
though is the nightmare inducing design
of mordoch in the movie that is tick and
Corey stall's digitally scanned face and
awkwardly squashing it into a helmet at
best it looks laughable at worst it
looks genuinely concerning and didn't
exactly combat the argument that Marvel
Studios probably isn't giving their VFX
artists scene of time or money to
deliver adequate work number nine Hobbs
returns fast X fast X certainly has its
share of WTF Mormons in the closing
stretch from the film literally ending
with dom and his son in Pearl to Giselle
making a death-defying return to the
series but the biggest jaw dropper of
all the rock revealing his return to the
series in the movie's mid-credit scene
given the very public beef that Dwayne
Johnson has had with Vin Diesel in
recent years it appeared that Johnson
was done with the mainline Fast and
Furious movies and would mostly stick to
teaming up with Jason Statham for a
Hobson Shore sequel or two yet the
mid-credits scene shows an individual
wearing a mask receiving a message from
villain Dante Reyes who promises to come
for them next for their part in killing
his father the person removes their mask
and yep it's Luke freaking Hobbs while
Johnson is likely only returning to the
franchise due to Black Adam's recent box
office failure given that Johnson was in
many ways the glue of the better fast
films and his absence has been sorely
felt from the last two hopefully he
might help getting things back on track
number eight a child narrates the movie
Magic Mike's Last Dance the third
unseemingly final Magic Mike movie
especially considering its lackluster
box office performance was a colossal
let down from start to finish a
fundamentally bizarre threequel which
skill deals back the signature stripping
to focus on Mike helping a socialite Max
produces sexy stage play this is the
last series that needed to deviate from
a well-horned formula but the first
troubling sign was right there in the
opening scene which sees a young girl
providing a contemplative voice over
narration about the origins of dance
even with the context of the girl later
being revealed as Max's daughter zadie
you have to wonder what Stephen
Soderberg was thinking by Framing a
movie about stripping around the
perspective of a child did anyone ask
for this number seven the orgy infinity
pool infinity pools
um climactic orgy scene is not safe for
work enough that we can't show
particular clips of it here at the start
of the third act Gabby initiates a
drug-fueled orgy with James and the
other hedonistic Western tourists
staying at the resort what follows is a
hallucinogenic neo-splashed three-minute
sequence in which the group do just
about everything to one another you can
possibly imagine it's basically a
collage of human body slithering around
intricate with a few especially
unnerving sites namely a female nipple
oozing an unspecified liquid if the
intent was to disturb rather than Tittle
it then director Brandon Cronenberg
certainly did his job number six the
hilarious credit scene hypnotic Ben
Affleck's new sci-fi thriller hypnotic
feels like it stumbled straight out of
2011 so tired as its sub Inception
narrative and style the film's mere
existence in 2023 as directed by Robert
Rodriguez to the tune of 65 million
dollars or less is a WTF moment in of
itself yet it's the hilariously
optimistic sequel beating mid-credits
scene which proves even more bizarre at
the end of the movie The villainous
hypnotic Delrin is seemingly killed in a
chaotic final shootout however the the
post-credits scene reveals that in fact
Delrin used his psychic abilities to
switch appearances with protagonist
Rock's Foster father Carl who was killed
in his place Delrin reverts back to his
real appearance picks up a gun and walks
off setting up a sequel which given the
film's disastrous box office failure
hasn't got a hope in Hell of ever coming
to pass you have to admire the
confidence to even include the teas in
the final cut though number five the
cheese grater Evil Dead rise Evil Dead
rise proved itself worthy enough of some
Remy's Legacy with one single brutal
scene later in the movie when the
Deadeye possessed Bridget uses a cheese
grater as a gnarly offensive weapon
against her aunt Beth after grabbing The
Grater Bridget slams it into Beth's leg
and rips it down tearing off a huge
chunk of leg skin in the process in a
movie where one character literally eats
glass this is still the most nauseating
and squirm inducing moment perhaps in
part because we're seeing such a typical
household item be used in such a
disgustingly destructive way needless to
say it's a moment which left many
gasping and cringing in horror number
four the Clone twist polite Society
polite Society was marketed as a martial
arts comedy centered around a British
Pakistani teenager Ria who attempts to
rescue her older sister Lena from
settling for an arranged marriage and
abandoning her dreams yet just past the
movie's midpoint it takes the most
unexpected genre shift indeed when it's
revealed that Lena's soon to be
mother-in-law rahila has a secret lab in
her Mansion more to the point rahila
intends to impregnate Lena with a clone
of herself yep it's certainly a Twist
that feels like it belongs in an
entirely different movie say get out
compared to the more Edgar wright-esque
Brit action comedy that polite Society
was sold as it gets plenty of points for
after creativity though number three the
whole damn movie boo is afraid where to
even begin with ariaster's third feature
the movie is a three-hour collage of
Unforgettable WTF moments from an
opening point of view shot of boar being
born to his mother's apparent death by
chandelier but his entire anxiety racked
existence and him getting hit by a truck
while running through the serial killer
infested streets naked and that's just
the First Act beyond that Astor serves
up a teenage girl killing herself by
drinking paint a surreal theater Troop
that hangs out in the forest a lengthy
animated sequence a sex scene with fatal
consequences and a dick and balls
monster that may or may not be Boar's
actual father to some it makes for an
exasperating set while to others it's
refreshingly bold but to every single
person who watches but was afraid as
some seriously twisted wtfs stuff number
two edgon's melted illusion Dungeons and
Dragons honor among Thieves Dungeons and
Dragons honor among Thieves most
deranged moment occurs when Edgar
creates an illusionary double of himself
to distract the gods during their heist
in Neverwinter the illusion works well
enough at first singing and Performing
persuasively as Edgar that is until it
starts glitching out its dialogue
repeating relentlessly while Edgar's
fear starts melting his eyes going
horrifyingly bug-eyed and his jaw and
neck droop downwards it's a visual both
extremely funny and unexpectedly
terrifying leaving viewers with an image
sure to live on in their nightmares for
the foreseeable future the VFX artists
sure seemed like they had their fun
designing this sequence and for our
final entry Major Spoilers will follow
if you haven't yet seen Spider-Man
across the spider-verse this is your
warning number one Donald Glover as live
action Prowler Spider-Man on across the
spider-verse Spider-Man across the
spider versus absolutely jam-packed with
fan serving cameos the more surprising
of which is surely a live-action
appearance by Donald Glover as Aaron
Davis aka the prowler Glover's Davis is
briefly visible when miles first visits
the Spidey Society where Davis has been
imprisoned by Miguel O'Hara this is an
especially amusing Cameo given that of
course Glover briefly played Davis in
the MCU Spider-Man homecoming suggesting
that he's playing the same character
across both movies beyond that Glover
was widely campaigned to portray
Spider-Man in 2012's The Amazing
Spider-Man voiced miles in the Ultimate
Spider-Man animated series and a clip of
him wearing Spider-Man pajamas for an
episode of community also briefly
appeared on the TV screen in Spider-Man
into the spider-verse while the fusion
of animated and live-action elements was
certainly risky it absolutely paired off
with one of the movie's most giddy
surprises and there we have it folks our
list of the biggest WTF movie moments of
2023 so far but please do let us know
