welcome back to another video and this week I'm looking at the top 5 films for
economic students this is a video I made for the good people at project Elon a
link to their channel will be in the description below my name's Joshua and
let's get into it money monster is an epic crime drama
with a fantastic cast and the story ultimately centers around one man's
reaction to losing money after following financial advice on a popular live
broadcast that commentates on the stock market as many economic students will
venture into a role that offers certain levels some aspect of financial advice
it's important to understand that behind the glitz and glamour of the dream of
making a fortune of real people with real money going by nothing but your
word that they can positively change their financial situation a film well
worth watching especially if you're looking into financial advising a
healthy economy is what drives employment by creating and maintaining
and need for jobs so it goes about saying that an unhealthy economy will do
the opposite and cause less or zero jobs being created with current jobs being a
threat the company man follows three men who was climbing the career ladder
of success only for the recession and the round of layoffs to see them join
the unemployment line the film shows the impact this has on their lifestyle their
families and their self-worth and I don't want to give too much away if you
haven't seen this film think go give it a watch so when an unhealthy economy is
putting people out of jobs and driving down salaries it goes without saying
that we can expect people's homes to come under threat as well and in 99
homes we see Andrew Garfield providing an emotional roller coaster when he not
only loses his home but his only way of survival is to work for the man who took
it away and help him take away more homes for other people definitely a film
for anyone looking to get into real estate mortgages banking and I urge you
to watch it now margin call does have similarities to the company men as you
see a company going through a round of layoffs however they also discover
they're on the brink of a recession and we see the inner workings and the people
involved when a company has to make changes literally overnight that impacts
not only the people who work for the company but the businesses the companies
work with as the company fights for survival margin call has a fantastic
cast to keep you hooked and I've got give it a mention a standout scene for
me is where we hear about the impact just building a bridge has made for
millions of people in contrast to what they do now in the financial sector so
that one little bridge has saved the people of those two communities have
combined 1531 years of their lives not wasted
so just before we go to my number one here are some honorable mentions perhaps
too much of a documentary for myself to the list it as a top film the inside job
is still a good watch for any economic students wanting to understand the
elements that led to the financial crash similarly too big to fail follows the
2008 recession as it looks how the financial leaders we have to try and
sector do you think I've missed out any films are there any TV shows that also
touch on the economy or the financial sector let me know in the comments as
well as any other degree subjects that you would like me to find the best films
to watch my name is Joshua please like if you enjoyed this video subscribe to
see more find me on social media and I look forward to seeing you in the next
