overpaying for anything sucks especially

socks so why pay 45 for a single pair of

grip socks when you can spend less than

half pure grip socks pro feature our

best materials for optimal fit moisture

wicking and performance at a fair price

just 16.99 a pair at puregripsocks.com

at this point pretty well every major

football boot manufacturer is pushing

the fact that they take a technological

angle to the production of their

football boots they're not just designed

to feel good and look cool they're

designed to perform the part and the

reason why they perform well is because

of all of the technology that they have

and credit where credit is due i think

there have legitimately been a bunch of

new technologies concepts materials that

have been introduced into football boots

over the last 30 years or so that have

made for some really good products that

are legitimately effective in terms of

how they impact the performance of the

product not to say that football boots

are going to make you play better

because they're not but i think most

people would agree that some football

boots are simply better than others and

sometimes it's those technologies that

make the difference from one boot to the

next with that said for all the great

technologies there are twice as many

useless ones or gimmicky ones if you

will technologies that have little to no

impact whatsoever some of which the

average consumer really buys into

thinking that it's making a difference

for them when in reality it's doing

absolutely nothing which is why today

i'm gonna be sharing with you the top

five most useless football boot

technologies of 2022 if you end up

enjoying the video please don't forget

to support it with like subscribe to the

channel if you haven't already for daily

content and no i clearly don't know how

to use sunscreen

[Music]

the adidas predator edge specifically

the top end plus and .1 models for

reasons that i've talked about in

various videos on this channel are

football boots that i'm really not that

crazy about and that mostly comes down

to fit as well as overall comfort

however there is one technology in

particular that adidas have more or less

reintroduced on the predator edge that

does absolutely nothing and they know it

and that is the tungsten weight at the

tip of the toe tungsten being a type of

metal that in this particular

implementation is being used to add

weight closer to the tip of the toe

where according to adidas you are now

increasing the swing weight in such a

way where you're going to increase the

power of your shot how much tungsten

this actually is we don't know they

never said how much extra power should

you expect from the tungsten weight on

your predator edge we don't know adidas

never said they just said they put a

weight there because it's better and

that's all we get to know and i know

this might be shocking to a bunch of you

but you don't notice it and it doesn't

make any difference you're going to get

tons of extra grip on the ball from the

rubber elements scattered across the

upper but these are not going to make

your shot more powerful

[Music]

at this point you have to give nike

credit because they're still getting

away with something that no other brand

is getting away with and that is

charging you an extra 25 dollars to add

a little bit of knitted material around

your ankle versus paying 25 less for the

exact same football boot you can pay 250

dollars for a vapor 14 elite or you can

pay 275 dollars for the mid cut version

which is the superfly eight elite which

of course gives you the addition of a

mid cut df collar and the same thing

goes for the phantom gt2 you have a low

cut for 250 and a df mid cut for 275

dollars the only difference being the

addition of some extra material wrapping

your ankle and to be fair to mid-cut

football boots in general they aren't

useless in the sense that they do

actually make a difference compared to a

low-cut model some people like the way

that they look that counts for something

some people like the way that it feels

that counts for something there is a

false sense of security with having this

material wrapping your ankle although it

is effectively just another layer that

you would have from wearing a second

pair of socks as an example that doesn't

really provide ankle support but some

people want to believe that it does if

that helps you by all means spend the

extra 25 dollars and i do understand

that a lot of people who play on

artificial grass with rubber pellets

having the mid-cut collar can help

prevent those little black pellets from

getting inside of your football boots

but as it relates to the actual

construction of nike football boots with

low-cut and mid-cut variations there's

no difference in fit there's no

difference in support there is literally

no difference than some additional

material extending from what would

otherwise be a low-cut football boot

design and there aren't that many other

examples but it is worth pointing out

that if you go for a predator edge point

one you can get either the low cut or

the mid cut variation with its

additional ankle support for the same

250 dollars my point being that if you

are going nike unless you absolutely

must have a pair of mid cut football

boots you're probably better off saving

the money and going for the low-cut

version

[Music]

can a football boot improve your ability

to control the ball

no however touch is very much a personal

preference thing so if you prefer

something really thin you might have a

better touch with a football boot that

has a really thin upper versus something

that's a little bit bulkier or more

padded and vice versa nonetheless adidas

with their control boot or i guess in

this case heritage boot have a control

element that is as useless as they come

and that is the copa soft studs and

you'll find this incredibly advanced

technology on both the top end copper

sense plus which i have right here as

well as the copa sense point one which

is basically just the lace variation

what adidas have cleverly done is

instead of using the same plastic on all

of the fg studs they've actually used a

slightly softer plastic on these two

white ones right here so when they make

contact with the ball they have the

ability to flex therefore absorbing some

of the impact and improving your ability

to control said ball and you can see how

soft the material is that when i squish

it it doesn't move or feel any different

from when i squish this stud which also

isn't soft i will give them some credit

they added some micro texturing kind of

in the area where these two soft studs

are positioned but whether or not that's

going to make for any difference again i

just don't think so to make a long story

short if you're buying a pair of copa

senses with the hope that the soft sud

technology is going to improve your

touch on the ball you are going to be

very very disappointed

[Music]

acc all conditions control technology

you know it's there because it says

right there that it's there serious

question if a football boot technology

needs to be written on the upper in

order for you to know that it even

exists on the football boot is it really

an effective technology the idea behind

acc all conditions control as the name

would suggest is to provide better grip

on the ball in all conditions dry or wet

warm cold whatever it may be all pretty

much entails everything and when acc was

first introduced as a technology within

the nike brand every football boot that

had it had a similar finish and a

similar texture on the surface of the

upper where you could distinctly tell a

difference in feel for the ball in dry

or wet conditions when comparing a

football boot with acc versus a football

boot without acc whether you're

comparing it to something from another

brand or even nike themselves that is

something that has been lost in

translation with the evolution of acc

technology and look you might disagree

with me but i'm gonna make the argument

as i have been doing for the last

several years if you compare the

mercurial the tiempo and the phantom gt

from nike all top bun models all

technically supposed to have acc

although the tiempo doesn't actually

have acc written on anywhere so we don't

even know if it does actually have it

all of these football boots offer

different levels of grip different

textures different everything in terms

of feel for the ball in both dry and wet

conditions so how much of an effect is

acc actually having in my opinion none

at all they're all solid football boots

in their own way but i'm not giving any

credit to acc technology for that

[Music]

g a g that stands for firm ground and

artificial grass implying that this stud

pattern found on the puma ultra 1.4 is

suitable for use on firm natural grass

as well as artificial grass to very

different playing surfaces that require

two very different stud patterns not

necessarily for optimal traction because

this will give you great grip on natural

grass and artificial grass but more so

two different stud patterns for optimal

safety reducing the risk of injury and

in my opinion this is why i have this at

number one these fgag stud patterns from

puma legitimately are not safe for use

on artificial grass especially this one

for real if this fg stud pattern found

on a mercurial vapor is made for optimal

traction on natural grass how on earth

does this differ from that in terms of

making it suitable for use on artificial

grass which is such a clingy plain

surface this is an ag stud pattern more

studs shorter studs much better for use

on artificial grass and certainly less

clingy safer in general having too much

grip is effectively what makes a stud

pattern dangerous and when you have

studs that are this aggressive that dig

in and don't give you that freedom to

twist and pivot not to mention are too

long which can lead to instability

issues you are putting your knees ankles

and hips at a much higher risk of injury

even puma themselves actually make a

true ag stub pattern but they don't call

it ag because that would contradict

their fg ag naming system for their fg

stud pattern this is what they call mg

which stands for multi-ground which also

kind of implies fgag and if you really

want an fgag football boot from puma

you'd be much better off and much safer

with a multi-ground stud pattern than

you would from fghg which makes

absolutely no sense so whether you're

going for the future or the ultra

because the king is so bad right now

nobody's really going for those just

realize that these fgag stud patterns

are actually just fg and not ag at all
