The education science ma at the ioe, ucl's Faculty of Education and Society is a world-renowned programme that produces outstanding education scientists. The programme is highly selective, with only the very best students being accepted onto it.
The programme is designed to produce graduates who are able to think critically about education, who can conduct research that makes a real difference to educational practice, and who are able to communicate their findings to a range of audiences.
The course is structured around three core themes:
Theme 1: Theories and Conceptual Frameworks in Education Science
This theme introduces students to the major theoretical and conceptual frameworks in education science. It provides students with the opportunity to engage with a range of debates in the field, and to develop their own critical perspectives on these debates.
Theme 2: Research Methods in Education Science
This theme provides students with a comprehensive grounding in research methods. Students will learn about a range of qualitative and quantitative methods, and will have the opportunity to use these methods in their own research projects.
Theme 3: Applications of Education Science
This theme provides students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and understanding of education science to a range of real-world contexts. Students will work on projects that have a direct impact on educational practice, and will have the chance to present their findings to a range of audiences.

three main modules of the course the
first one is about foundations in
science education which is particularly
aimed at looking at the latest and best
research in science education we then
have what is education which is where
the students get the opportunity to mix
with other students outside of the
science discipline and then audience
will also take a report or a
dissertation into something that they're
particularly interested in and carry out
that research over a period of time the
course audience is actually very broad
and it's aimed anyone that's interested
in or working in the science education
sector science education and education
as a whole is generally becoming more
evidence-based practice so this course
very much is wanting students to develop
their practice back in their workplace
in order to make them become better
educators better communicators and just
generally have a stronger understanding
of the research that is in their
professional field
